Netflix will now allow users to watch all the shows and movies with playback control. It allows users to manage their content with the speed as per their needs.
Now Netflix allows its active Android app users to stream the content at two different speeds. For slow streaming speed, you can choose 0.5x or 0.75x speed, and for faster watching, you can choose 1.25x or 1.5x speed. You can also use the Playback speed option on the already downloaded content for watching it offline. Many users prefer watching content offline.
For using it, subscribers need to opt for the playback speeds whenever they start watching any new content; otherwise, they won’t be able to watch the content with this feature. The feature is not set by default, which can prevent you from viewing any content at 1.5x speed, accidentally. The feature will be available to everyone in the coming weeks, so you should look for the update.
Netflix quoted that they were testing the feature in 2019, but due to some issues, they are not able to launch it then. During the testing in 2019, an actor and a director from Hollywood spoke against this feature. It is the main reason behind the delay of this feature.
Along with this feature, the Netflix team will introduce some other features that can ensure the quality of the content. Automatic correction is one of the features that is going to get rolled out with their latest add-on. The automatic correction will manage the audio when you are watching the content at a lower and faster speed.
The spokesperson of Netflix quoted that they know the concerns of some creators. So, they have designed this feature in such a way that the users just need to change the settings whenever they want to watch any new content.
Keela Robison, vice president of the product innovation of Netflix, has addressed these changes that can enhance the viewing experience of the users.
Robinson mentioned that the feature was much requested by some of their premium members, and they had been demanding it for a long time. Some users might slow down the things because they are watching the show with the subtitles or having any hearing aid.
Even some associations like the National Federation of the Blind and the National Association of the Deaf praised Netflix’s playback features. This feature might prove helpful for people who are not able to hear or see properly.
Netflix is also planning to collect feedback from their active subscribers and the creative content community.
