Honda cars Philippines will hold a virtual launch. Two new models will appear. From the invitation we didn't get too much information, but we did see two cars and they were on the road here, and we had some speculation. We have a feeling that this is a brand-new city, together with the updated CR-V, will soon enter our market.

The new Honda City made its debut in Thailand in November with a turbocharged engine and a new RS variant. This is the same model recently launched in Malaysia, only one of which has a hybrid system. Now, we're not sure which of these two will be or whether we'll get either of them, but we do know that if this is, in fact, a brand-new city, then an RS variant will sit at the top of the range. The notice in the invitation says so.

And there are some changes happen to the new Honda City 2020. First of all, it’s the internal change. The interior design has undergone a major overhaul, and the new dashboard settings look inspired by the Honda Jazz. Because it's the foundation of the city. More streamlined in appearance, the once horizontal vents have been turned to the side, and the two central vents are now clipped to the infotainment screen instead of at the top. In the end, this makes the dashboard look more uniform. Replacing the AC touch sensing control with a knob is another good touch, giving the center console a more organic feel.

The steering wheel has been given a more ergonomic look, starting with smaller wheels, to larger button controls, which should make them easier to press than the round buttons on the 2019 model.

As for the scale, the new City is longer, wider and lower than the previous city, with length of 4553mm, width of 1748mm and height of 1467mm. In contrast, the measured length / width / height of the city in 2019 is 4,440mm x 1,695mm x 1,477mm. This makes the new town 113mm long, 53mm wide and 10mm short. The wheelbase has also been shortened by 11 mm – 2,589 mm, in the 2020 urban launch mode of 2,600 mm.

As for the new CR-V, this is the latest model to arrive in Thailand in early July this year. There, it gets a new look of alloy wheels, a slightly modified front bumper, and some additional features, such as a wireless smartphone charger. If we see this car coming out here, we guess HCPI will choose to keep the existing 1.6-liter i-DTEC diesel engine and the 2.0-liter i-VTEC gasoline engine.
