Samsung’s laptop game is improving. The company is sticking to its approach of focusing on its capabilities after demonstrating that it can deliver on the fundamentals while flexing its display and design muscle with its laptop like the Galaxy Book Flex. Like Galaxy Flex, Samsung has released several Galaxy Books mostly purchased by the brand’s enthusiasts. Even though these laptops are generally good devices with good specifications, Samsung somehow failed to tap into the hearts of mainstream users. Similar to its Galaxy smartphone series, Samsung Galaxy Book Pro laptops also feature an AMOLED panel display while also being super thin and with a long-lasting battery.

The Galaxy Book Pro 360 comes in 13- and 15-inch sizes and is available in clamshell and convertible configurations. Samsung has done a good job with its new Galaxy Book, and it has a lot of new features to offer. However, in some cases, it felt like Samsung, instead of moving forward, backslid a little with this new laptop.

But we also believe that if there’s a laptop that could expand Samsung’s territory to the mainstream user base as well, Galaxy Book Pro 360 has to be it.

Design

At 3.06 pounds and 11.9mm, the new Galaxy Book feels quite thin and light if we compare it to other similar range laptops such as the Surface 4 or Dell XPS 15.

Aside from the numbers and measurements, the Galaxy Book Pro 360 appears to be somewhat decent and simple. With a rounded rectangular design and a slightly tapered base, it might remind you of Apple’s MacBook.

The Galaxy Book Pro 360 has three USB-C docks (out of which one supports the Thunderbolt 4), a headphone jack, and a slot for your Micro SD card adapter. Samsung has moved the power button from the sides to the top right of the keyboard. It also houses a fingerprint sensor.

Display

The new Galaxy Book Pro 360 comes with Samsung’s signature AMOLED display panel that provides a contrast ratio and precise colors. It is 15.6- inch full HD display and a touch panel. Samsung allows you to choose from color presets such as Vivid, Natural, Photo Editing, and Movie. It can also be set at auto mode for the system to decide which mode is better.

Keyboard and Trackpad

The Book Pro provides a satisfying typing experience. When Num Lock is turned off, the Numpad on the right doubles as an extra arrow D-pad with actual Home, End, Page Down, and Page Up keys, which is useful for users who enter numbers frequently.

Coming to the trackpad, Samsung has given a trackpad that is almost as big as a palm of a hand. With such a big-size trackpad, you probably won’t run out of room for scrolling or pinch to zoom.

Performance and Software

The Galaxy Book Pro 360 has an Intel Core i7-1165G7 processor with 8GB of RAM and 516GB of storage. You can upgrade it to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage for an extra $200. Samsung also offers software that adapts to your demands to help safeguard your privacy and improve the speed of your system. The latter is difficult to assess because it operates in the background to maximize CPU performance and is based on thermals.

Samsung has also included an S-Pen with Pro 360 but missed on a slot to keep that stylus, but it does attach to the laptop magnetically.

A password-protected folder for sensitive content, a secret screen to prevent passersby from spying on your work, and a Block Recording shortcut that turns off your microphone and webcam are among Samsung’s privacy features.

Battery Life

Samsung claims that the battery on the new Galaxy Book Pro 360 will last for around 16 to 20 hours, and it mostly depends on how do you plan to use the laptop. It comes with a 65-watt fast charger that can give you 8 hours of runtime with just 30 minutes of charging.

This new powerhouse and well-designed laptop prove that Samsung is determined to produce great laptops and is willing to go all out. The only drawback is its Webcam and the face-editing software, but the AMOLED display, S-Pen, and a roomy keyboard covers for it. The Galaxy Book Pro 360 is a powerful computer if you can get past the poor webcam. On most benchmarks, it outperformed the similarly equipped ThinkPad X1 Nano and the AMD-powered Surface Laptop 4. In the end, Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360 turns out to be a great buy for $1499.
