The iPhone 13 when it hits stores later this year won't have major changes, but it could have a built-in fingerprint scanner, as Apple has begun testing it as a key upgrade for 2021, according to Bloomberg.

Starting with iPhoneX, all iPhones except iPhoneese (2020) don't have a Touch-ID fingerprint reader, instead using face recognition for biometric authentication.

In the current flu pandemic, however, facial recognition has proved to be a less practical solution, as the technology often fails to unlock the phone when the user is wearing a mask. So you can either pull your mask down or enter the password to unlock your iPhone.

However, this wouldn't be an issue if the iPhone 13 had a built-in fingerprint scanner, which has been available on Android smartphones for several years.

Reports say Apple won't give up Face ID, but has discussed removing the charging port on some iPhone models in favor of wireless charging.

The source further said that Apple is working on an iPhone with a foldable screen and has developed a prototype of a foldable display for internal testing. The screens have invisible hinges, similar to Samsung's foldable displays, one of which expands up to 6.7 inches in size.

However, Apple has yet to finalize plans for a foldable iPhone and does not have any prototypes.

Bloomberg's report also notes that Apple is working on two new tablets — a new iPad Pro with a faster processor and Miniled display, and an entry-level iPad with the same design as the iPad Air (2019).
