Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, commonly renowned with his WWE pseudonym “The Rock,” is working on “The Scorpion King” reboot along with Universal Studios.

Responding to the news, Dwayne Johnson expressed a  sense of “honor” and “excitement” to re-develop and retell cool mythology to the new generation.

The Rock made his acting debut as a strange antagonist in the 2001 film “The Mummy Returns.” The popularity of the actor made the producers offer him a chance to reprise his role in The Mummy series prequel, an offer which the actor readily accepted.

The Rock reprised his role in the prequel titled “The Scorpion King,” which explored the story of a warrior named Mathayus.

The movie was a worldwide success and managed to earn almost 180 million at the box office. Nothing stopped Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson after that. He became a Hollywood star, and then he boosted himself to become what he is today (one of the richest actors present in the entire world).

Now, the actor is back at the world he had rocked at the beginning of his career. He is forming a deal with Universal Pictures, and Dany Garcia led Seven Bucks Productions to recreate the world of “The Scorpion King.”

The news has arrived courtesy of an exclusive report shared by Deadline, which has also suggested that Jonathan Herman known for his work in the “Straight Outta Compton” will write the story for the film. Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will act as producers of the film and they will represent Seven Bucks Productions in the production team.

One caveat you need to know is the fact that Johnson is not free before 2022, so he is unlikely to act in the film. However, given the fact how much he loves the world of Scorpion King and his association with the Seven Bucks Productions, we can expect at least an impact cameo from him.

The 2002 film “The Scorpion King” relayed the story of a warrior residing in the deserts who stood tall against an evil force that was threatening to wreak his homeland. With nothing certain about the movie, we can only rely on some reports and rumors, which have suggested that unlike the former, the reboot will tell a story set in the present world.

Meanwhile, Dwayne Johnson has made a comment and has said that he is pumped up to bring an exciting mythological story to the new generation of cinephiles.

He proudly said that Scorpion King was the first role he ever portrayed on the big screen, and had he not have done that, he probably wouldn’t have reached the place he is today. He is optimistic about the fact that this reboot will give opportunities to the young actors to show for themselves, similar to what he had got back in the day. He added that he has full trust in Jonathan Herman to deliver a script that the worldwide audience can enjoy.

Dany Garcia is also quite excited about the reboot.

Jay Polidoro, the Senior Vice President of Productions at Universal, and the creative executive named Tony Ducret, will supervise the development of the film.
