Apart from baking cake and cookies, there is a lot more a microwave oven can do. It is one of the important kitchen appliances in today's time. Equipped with various features, a microwave oven is for people who are always in a hurry and need food on time.

These microwave ovens have been on the market since 1991. Some of the known brands of Microwave Ovens are LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba, Whirlpool, IFB.So, if you plan to get one for your home, you have to keep a few things in mind. Power Rating:  The first thing you should check before buying a microwave oven is the Power Rating. Besides, it is said that the higher the power rating, the lesser will be the cooking time. The smaller in size ovens generally consume less power, that is, 800-1000 watts. At the same time, the larger ones consume 1000-1600 watts of power.

Control Panel: You can find the buttons on the microwave oven. These buttons or sensors help you change the setting according to the type of food. There are two types of panels though, mechanical control panel and a touch panel. However, most companies consider using mechanical control panels because touch panels are delicate, and they fail easily.

Automatic Sensor: It is a wonderful feature, and the microwave you are planning to buy must have it. The microwave shuts down on its own after sensing that the food is cooked properly. It helps to avoid any accidents and also saves electricity. Besides, it saves your food from getting overcooked.

Brand: Most people buy the product looking at the brand or the name of the company. And it is because of the trust the brand has built in the years so far. There are brands like LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba, Whirlpool, and IFB who sell microwave ovens. Except for a few companies, all the others give 3-4 years of warranty on the product's body and heating element.

Size: Microwave ovens come in all shapes and sizes. But you have to choose the bigger one, only if you have enough space in your kitchen. For instance, a small size over with (18-20 liter) capacity is enough for a family of 2-3 people. And smaller size ovens use less power.Child Lock: If you have kids at home, this is the best feature of the microwave. It saves your oven from getting ruined and avoid any accidents in the future.

Stages of Cooking: With this feature, you can change settings. Furthermore, the food gets cooked faster than the gas stove. This is a very beneficial feature, which allows you to cook at different power settings and stages of the cooking cycle. Compared to a gas stove, you don't have to slow the burner and use your hands to stir. In this feature, all you have to do is set the oven to the setting where the power changes according to food type.
