Many people have heard of Nostradamus, the 16th-century French physician and astrologer who made many predictions about the future, which came true. After his death, people gave him credit for many of his predictions, which allegedly hit the bull’s eye – the French revolution, the reign of Hitler, the terrorist strikes of September 11, 2001, and even the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic. He had predicted in his famous book, The Prophecies, that the world would end in the year, 3797.

India, the land of Vedic wisdom, too, has its famous seers who, with their divinely acquired vision and knowledge, saw deep into the future and predicted many things that would happen in the world. For instance, the Bhagavata Purana, an ancient Hindu text, contains a list of prophecies about the Kali Yuga, that is, the contemporary epoch.

The Hindu scriptures and mythology claim that the universe will pass through four great ages or Yugas. Each of these is a full cycle of cosmic creation and destruction. The four great Yugas are Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dwapar Yuga, and Kali Yuga. Satya Yug is the Age of Truth and lasted for 4,000 divine years, Treta Yuga lasted for 3,000, and Dwapara Yuga for 2,000 years. Kali Yuga will last for 1,000 divine years. One divine year equals 432,000 earthly years. Three Yugas of this current universe are already over, and we are now living in the last and fourth one—the Kali Yuga. Kali is the lord of the Kali Yuga and the nemesis of Kalki, the 10th and final avatar of Vishnu. The Kalki Purana describes him as a male mortal demon and the source of all evil. He was a Gandharva in the Satya Yuga. In the Mahabharata epic, it was he who triggered the war between the Pandavas and the Kauravas.

Around 5000 years ago, the great sage Veda Vyasa, who wrote the Mahabharata epic, made 15 predictions about the Kali Yuga. Interestingly, many of them have come true.

Here are the top 10 ancient Hindu predictions made by Vyasa. Read on, and you will be amazed.
