November is National Diabetes Awareness Month and Nov.  Marine D3 Review  14 is the World Diabetes Day. It is therefore a must that we try to learn more about this disease which is slowly becoming one of the most common disease. Although, at present, Type 1 diabetes cannot be prevented it is said that we can reduce the risk of Type 2 diabetes.

What is the difference between the two types of diabetes? Type 1 diabetes was previously known as the juvenile diabetes as it is usually diagnosed in children, adolescents and young adults but can occur at any age. In Type 1 diabetes, the body specifically the pancreas does not produce insulin which is the hormone needed to convert sugar, starches, into energy needed in life. And without enough insulin the glucose builds up in the bloodstream and is unable to use this for energy. With enough knowledge, insulin therapy and other treatments, even young children (with the help of family members) can learn to manage their condition and live long and happy lives.
