Among the four major operating systems of Apple, only watchOS is the OS that doesn’t get public beta updates. The fact is not even surprising since, from the beginning, it is a tradition. In order to install the watchOS updates, you have to install a unique certificate for your device.

This will make you eligible as a developer, and then you can download the software to your iPhone that has at least iOS 13 beta to send it to your watch. After that, the watchOS 6.2 Beta 2 can be easily installed on your Watch. The process of updating the OS of your Apple Watch can be tricky, but the easy instructions in this article will help you to make the work done without any issues.

Step 1: Install watchOS 6.1 Beta 2 Certificate

Please bear in mind that you should have the developer beta for iOS 13 on the iPhone prior to installing watchOS 6.1 beta on your Apple Watch. Now follow these instructions mentioned here to install the certificate on your device to download the update:

  1. First and foremost, open a browser and then head to developer.apple.com on your iPhone that is connected to your Apple Watch.
  2. Make sure to complete the login process.
  3. Then head to Discover.
  4. Go to watchOS.
  5. Press on Download.
  6. Then Sign in via the Apple ID when asked to do so.
  7. After that, head to Install Profile situated in the front of watchOS 6 Beta.
  8. Then head to Allow.
  9. Hit the Install button.
  10. Put in your account Passcode when asked to do so.
  11. Make a press on Install.
  12. Head to Restart to reboot the Apple Watch.

Now when the Apple Watch finishes rebooting, the installation progress will fall back to usual.

Step 2: Install watchOS 6.1 via the iPhone

Follow these instructions to install the newest released watchOS beta on your Apple Watch with the help of your iPhone:

  1. Make sure that your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi and then open the Apple Watch application.
  2. Head to My Watch.
  3. Then, go to General.
  4. Navigate to Software Update.
  5. Press on Download and Install.
  6. Put in your iPhone Password when asked.
  7. Hit the Agree button to accept the program’s Terms and Conditions.
  8. Now ensure that the Apple Watch has at least 50% battery.
  9. Then put your Apple Watch to the magnetic charger.
  10. Head to the Install button on your iPhone or the Apple Watch.

Now the watchOS update will be downloaded and transferred to the Apple Watch. Thereafter the Apple Watch will restart to install the new beta. The progress will be displayed on your Apple Watch.

Step 2(Alternate Method): Install watchOS 6.1 via Apple Watch

If you don’t want to get confused in using two devices for a single operation, then opt for this method since, in this one, you use your iPhone for only a particular step. See the below instructions to complete the installation of watchOS 6.1 on your Apple Watch:

  1. On your Apple Watch, head to Settings via Siri or the app menu.
  2. Then head to General.
  3. Navigate to Software Update.
  4. Hit on Install.
  5. Head to OK.
  6. Browse the Apple Watch application on your iPhone.
  7. Then Accept the Terms & Conditions on the iPhone’s screen.
  8. Hit the Download & Install button on your Watch.
  9. The Apple Watch was updated to watchOS 6.1beta 2 successfully.
