Yes, as a long time dandruff sufferer you will know that DHT (dihydrotestosterone) causes your hair to fall out quicker and often more than you would like.

I have two dreads dreads. My dad used to brush my dreads for me once a week. My hair didn't grow back like it should have but the oil I was using to prevent the DHT from attacking my hair worked wonders!

Not all oils are good for our hair, though, many of them contain sulphates, which do not help our locks at all. I don't use anything with sulphates in it. Sulphate oils can actually damage your hair when they come into contact with it. You can also read more about Natural And Quick Repair Deep Conditioner For Hair in this post.

That's why when I see rinses advertised on television or read in the magazines I can always smell those before I use them on my hair. You should never use any shampoo, especially new ones that you haven't used before, on your hair. The chemicals can ruin your hair.

Oils also give your hair some protection from sunlight too. Not all oils are UV protected though. Even the oils made for people with skin problems can be damaging if used on the scalp.

So what oil is good for dreads? There are no commercial oils that I can think of that help protect the hair against DHT. And again I can't smell the oil before I use it on my hair.

Well when I look through all the oils on the shelves of my local pharmacy, I can't see any that can't harmmy hair. Just because a bottle says natural does not mean it is good for dreads. Check out Best Moisturizing Oil For Hair in this post.

When I hear someone talking about what oil is good for dreads I always tell them to try things such as tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is very good for your hair, even as a DHT blocker! So if you want to try to use oil as a hair treatment don't go for the commercial ones, go for the oils that are good for your hair.
