So, are you a fan of this Emmy winner sitcom? Okay, here is the deal. Don’t get excited too soon. I have some good news and some bad news.

The good news is. Yes! Variety has confirmed that “Who’s the Boss?” is, in fact, in the making. Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano are expected to personify their respective characters again. The bad news is that Judith Light and Danny Pintauro are not currently involved with the development. The word is that they can become part of the show once the creators find a creative way to fill them.

The plot will be set thirty years after the events of the eighth season. It will involve a major league baseball player and retired housekeeper played by Danza and his relationship with his daughter who will be played by Milano. Milano will reprise the character Samantha Micelli who is now a single mother and is living in the same house shown in the original series.

Sony has left the door open for the inclusion of Judith Light. She played the role of Angela, a single parent, who was also Tony’s employer. Eventually, she transformed into Tony’s romantic interest. Danny Pintauro, who played her son, Jonathan, might also be a part of the reboot.

The legendary sitcom had received 10 Emmy awards and 5 Golden Globe nominations during its run on ABC. The show’s rights were with Embassy Lear’s Embassy Communications, which was sold to Coca Cola in 1985 and eventually made its way at the hands of Sony, which is now its owner. There will be a new buyer of the show who will have the option to buy the first installment rights as well.

Executive Producers of the show Norman Lear and Brent Miller have struck a deal with Sony Pictures with their banner ACT III Productions.

The idea of the new iteration of “Who is the Boss?” goes to Dan Farah of Farah films who will also be the executive producer of the show along with cast Danza and Milano.

Milano has once claimed that she would be excited to revisit the popular sitcom. She added that she is completely keen on reprising her role. However, the script would have to be extremely good.

“Who is the Boss?” is the latest in the string of remakes for classic sitcoms following “One Day at a Time,” “Full House,” and “Murphy Brown.”

Source-Reboot is in the Works
