Recently, the cast of the upcoming film The Matrix 4, Neil Patrick Harris, shared that the movie will have a different visual style by director-writer Lana Wachowski. Harris’s character is not yet disclosed in the upcoming science-fiction movie sequel alongside the original star Carrie-Ann Moss as Trinity and Keanu Reeves as Neo.

The first film of the franchise, titled The Matrix, was released in 1999. It is an American science fiction series created by the Wachowskis sisters. It consists of a trilogy with two sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, both released in 2003. The franchise features a cyberpunk science fiction plot of man’s technology fall who created artificial intelligence as a self-aware machine imprisoned in a virtual reality system. However, some prisoners in the movie succeeded in breaking through from the system, which is considered a threat. The first film stars Keanu Reeves, who played Neo’s lead character, Carrie-Anne Moss played the love interest and member of the society, Trinity, and Laurence Fishburne played Morpheus’s character, who is the guardian and wants to free humanity from systems.

The third sequel of the franchise and the most awaited one is currently under production, and the shooting starts in Berlin. The production work was scheduled to be started early, but it got delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Wachowski sisters co-direct and co-wrote the three movies in the original trilogy, and are also involved with the fourth one. However, Harris is not only the new cast member of the upcoming film in The Matrix 4; Yahaya Abdul-Mateen II from Watchmen and Candyman; Jessica Henwick from Game of Thrones, and Jonathan Groff from Mindhunter, Jada Pinkett-Smith from Niobe, and Lambert Wilson from The Merovingian are the expected casts in the sequel. Fans speculate that Moss and Reeves might be seen in different roles while Henwick and Mateen will be the new leads, but the makers have kept it tightly under the wraps. Although one thing is for sure, Wachowski is executing to use wirework stunts and groundbreaking CGI.

The film is a combination of Manga influences, wrapping up with the Kung-Fu wirework stunts and science fiction shell. The impact of the 1999 movie The Matrix has set bars for action movies and is one of the most glaring Reeves’ John Wick films. Recently, whispers are heard that Lana Wachowski has changed and improved her visual style in The Matrix 4; hopefully, that will push some bars in the action movie genre. These are some recent updates surrounding the production of The Matrix 4.
