Cyber crime is accelerating rapidly during the COVID-19 outbreak. Family businesses and offices need to strengthen their cybersecurity.

LCyberattacks are accelerating as criminals and other threat makers try to take advantage of the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Companies are rushing to implement telecommuting practices and online interactions with employees, customers, and suppliers, and these changes have been accompanied by increased cybersecurity risks. Some Family Businesses (FE) and Family Offices (FO) are recognizing the danger and taking steps to increase cybersecurity capabilities, but others need to get up to speed quickly.

Even before the pandemic, some were lagging behind in cybersecurity practices. Historically, cybersecurity in these companies has focused on finances (for example, making sure that money is not transferred erroneously or fraudulently). But as information has moved to the cloud and social media, the walls of these businesses have expanded – opening up many more opportunities for attack.
