John Boyega shared that Johnny Depp’s movie Pirates of the Caribbean inspired him to pursue acting as his career.
John Boyega, known initially as Adedayo Bamidele Adegboyega, is a British-Nigerian producer and actor. He is known for his role as Moses in the sci-fi movie Attack the Block in 2011. Later, he played Finn’s character in the Star Wars sequel trilogy movies, including The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker, and The Force Awakens. Boyega played the historical drama movie Detroit, the sci-fi movie Pacific Rim: Uprising, drama Imperial Dreams, and many more.
He has received the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2016 and awarded by the Trophee Chopard at Cannes Film Festival in 2016.
However, the actor was not very happy working with the Star Wars franchise. They consistently sidelined Finn’s character’s narrative arc in subsequent films. Yet, he has gone far and said he preferred Finn’s story in the unused Star Wars 9 script.

Pirates of the Caribbean is a fantasy movie based on Walt Disney’s theme park of the same name. The franchise consists of a total of five films produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Few actors featured in all the five installments; they are Johnny Depp in the protagonist’s role alongside Kevin McNally and Geoffrey Rush. The franchise collected a gross of $4.52 billion against a budget of $1.27 billion. It is the 14th highest-grossing film of all time.
Johnny Depp played the role of Jack Sparrow and received many praises along with the Oscar nomination for Best Actor Category for the character. However, his involvement in the sixth installment of the franchise is creating great speculation around the topic. In an interview, Boyega shared that he and Depp have many things in common, rather than working under Walt Disney’s film franchises.
Boyega shared with THR how he was inspired and convinced about pursuing acting as the right path for his career. He was studying at the University of Greenwich. One day he heard some loud bangs, and when he ran outside to see, he encountered that Depp was shooting for his movie Pirates of Caribbean. He took it as a sign from God to pursue acting.
Boyega has come a long way since he passed out of University and got his breakout in Attack The Block. He has carved his luck and path himself with his true dedication and hard work. He is currently attached to many upcoming TV shows, and films, including Jamie Foxx’s sci-fi comedy They Cloned Tyrone, Naked Singularity, and Small Axe.
Johnny Depp is a brilliant actor. He has entertained fans with many different unforgettable characters. He has got three nominations for Academy Awards and won one Golden Globe Awards.
