Disney has confirmed that no Marvel movie or series has been planned for a release in 2020. Marvel has now confirmed a longstanding rumor that the MCU storyline will not be taken forward this year. All the projects scheduled for the 2020 release will skip the year and move ahead to the next year.

Under normal circumstances, we would have had two films and three Disney+ series by now. Marvel was all set to release the three Disney+ series (Loki, WandaVision, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier) in 2020 as it had also released some teasers well before the pandemic blew itself over the entire world.

The two movies it had planned for theatrical release were Black Widow and The Eternals. Marvel chose to push them towards next year instead of opting for an OTT route; a very wise move considering the abysmal response high budgeted films like “Mulan” got over the past few months.

It has only been a few months since Marvel’s announcement that only WandaVision is up for running, and it might premiere on Disney+ by the end of this year. The news had created unmistakable electricity in the Marvel fans’ fraternity as it is the most exciting Marvel project since the release of Avengers: Endgame and the reason why Marvel fans are pumped for the series is that the series has a direct connection with the most anticipated Phase 4 film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.”

When some time passed since that announcement, many fans on Reddit started to fear for the worse, and on Thursday, November the 12th, Marvel Studio confirmed their rumors.

Fans now finally know they have to wait until January before watching the pilot of the show “WandaVision.” The show, which is currently capturing the attention of Disney+ subscribers, is Pedro Pascal starrer The Mandalorian Season 2, which arrived on the platform in late October. The finale of the second season will premiere on December the 18th, and fans would then have to wait for at least one month before they can finally see what “WandaVision” has in store for them.

The good news is that you have a date now. You should mark your calendar for January the 15th. Yes, the WandaVision will arrive on the platform on January the 15th, 2021. As a bonus treat for the fans, the comic studio giant has also unveiled an official synopsis and new photos of the upcoming series.

The official synopsis has unveiled that the series will be a blend of pre-modern television and MCU. It will explore the normal lives of two superheroes, namely Wanda Maximoff and Vision, as they begin to have suspicions over the nature of their reality.

Phase 4 is expected to be even richer than Phase 3 as Disney has bought Fox, who holds the rights over the X-Men and Fantastic Four universe. So, characters like Wolverine, Deadpool, and Professor X could easily have an appearance in MCU.

It looks like Iron Man and Captain America wouldn’t be missed anymore, but who will replace Robert Downey Jr. to be MCU’s new face? Some faint voices have whispered Brie Larson’s name as her character Captain Marvel is the franchise’s mightiest hero. However, given the fanaticism for Doctor Strange 2, you cannot put it past Benedict Cumberbatch to be the new crowd puller. Sherlock will replace Sherlock. Fun games. Isn’t it?
