The Metaverse is all the rage nowadays. A lot of brands are looking to get into the Metaverse space or are already in it! And this array includes names from several sectors. And one of the industries that are major moves to the Metaverse is the Fashion industry.

Brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton, despite being traditionally routed, have already embarked into the realm of Web3. Fashion NFTs, for instance, are worth quite a lot and have several use cases. Sure, they have their inherent collectible value, but just like you would flip a physical sneaker, you can flip a sneaker NFT on an NFT marketplace for digital collectibles and make a profit. Now, as the world transitions to the Metaverse, it is quite likely that fashion NFTs will be major players in the domain.

Fashion in the Metaverse

The most common application of Web3 tech in fashion is, as we have already established, Fashion NFTs. Separate pieces can be minted as NFT and can be overlaid on any ordinary image! Sounds intriguing, right? Not only that, you can also dress up your Metaverse avatar in a way that truly reflects who you are as a person. Since these pieces don’t actually exist in the real world, they are also more sustainable and have a smaller carbon footprint than physical fashion.

Even when it comes to virtual fashion shows, the Metaverse can be of great help. Right now, not many people can afford to book tickets to the most exclusive fashion weeks. But with the accessibility of the Metaverse, fashion shows may be viewed by a greater number of people and would do away with geographical constraints.

Fashion brands with NFT fashion can also make use of the Metaverse by establishing actual storefronts. For instance, one’s avatar could walk into a store and try on a range of clothing before deciding what to buy. Based on these customized designs, apparel can be produced and shipped to your actual location. This again, promotes sustainability and reduces the overproduction of high-fashion products.

Closing Thoughts

Although fashion is closely tied to the tangible, there are multiple opportunities for them in the Metaverse. Fashion designers and digital artists, too, could greatly benefit from the ease of creation. In every stage of the process, the incorporation of Web3 tech could greatly enhance the industry. While several brands have already stepped into the fray, we can hope to see many more represented in the virtual world.
