Soft tissue repair or healing refers to a set of pathophysiological processes by which tissues are repaired through regeneration, repair, and reconstruction following soft tissue defects (such as wounds, incisions, and wound surfaces) caused by trauma or other factors. In essence, soft tissue repair is an inborn defensive adaptive response to tissue and cell injury and defect caused by a variety of injury and pathogenic factors. Soft Tissue Repair defect caused by wounds, or tissue missing caused by extensive necrosis and tissue destruction, usually require regeneration and reconstruction of surrounding histocytes, or proliferation of other histocytes (usually connective histocytes) to replace the original tissue.
