“Educate the child on the path he must take, and when he gets older, he won't stray from it.” (Proverbs 22: 6)

It is true that we all make concessions in our busy lives and do not always find time to read God's Word with our children. Reading the Bible every day with your children is a great goal to pursue. This will help your children learn to love Bible teaching from an early age.

If you don't practice reading regularly, start with one or two nights a week and continue from there. For children who are unfamiliar with the Bible or find it boring, you may find protests at first. Discover a variety of teaching methods that will keep everyone interested and engaged learn more.

Start sharing a family story from the Bible. If you have younger children, keep it short and simple. You can use puppets or play the story to keep the children's attention. Ask them to tell parts of the story. Always keep talking about what you want your children to learn from history. For example, after telling the story of Jonah and the whale, he talks about how we should follow God's plan instead of our own; after reading (or telling) the story of David and Goliath, talk about how God helps us do amazing things if we trust Him.

If you have older children, help them see connections with real problems or problems they may encounter in their life. Teach them to trust in God. Teach them how God's love feels. Remind them that God can hear and answer their prayers.
