In this article, we will discuss the features that should have been on WhatsApp. Being the biggest messaging platform across the world, WhatsApp has more than 1.6 billion active users. It seems the numbers will increase in the coming years, making it an unbeatable service for a few more years.

However, being the most extensively used messaging app in the world doesn’t make WhatsApp the best messaging app in the market at present. Several apps provide comparatively more impressive features than WhatsApp. Even though it is currently the most widely used messaging platform, it still misses several features present on messaging apps pretty similar to WhatsApp. This article will let you know the missing features that should have been on WhatsApp. Below we have mentioned information regarding them in detail.

There are many reasons why WhatsApp is always slow in introducing a new set of features. This is because it is supported on almost every platform and by every device. So it has to ensure that the updates which it releases keep the user’s experience the same. The developers at WhatsApp had to work extra hard to prevent issues and keep the user experience the same as in their further updates for every device across the platforms.

WhatsApp has a massive user-base, and the company understands this very well that not every user on their database may be tech-savvy. So, the company has to keep in mind all the users, and it has to keep the new features simple and straightforward for a comfortable user experience.

We understand that the company can release a new feature quickly, but looking after its huge user-base, is its topmost priority, and we appreciate that. We hope that the features that we have mentioned below will be released by WhatsApp in its future updates.

Message Scheduling

This one surely tops the list of missing features in WhatsApp. Everyone must be wanting this feature, but we don’t think that the “Message Scheduling” feature is even on the radar. It often happens when we suddenly remember something, but we leave it to be done afterward because of the inappropriate time. But then we often forget to do that.

In those kinds of cases, a user has to either write it down or set a reminder. Even though these methods work, it would have been better if the “Message Scheduling” feature would have been there on WhatsApp. However, if you want, you can use a third-party application to accomplish this task. Still, we hope that this feature gets released on WhatsApp soon.

Hiding Profile Pictures from Individual Profiles

You can hide your stories from individual profiles on WhatsApp, but you cannot hide your profile picture from any specific contact. When you change your profile photo on WhatsApp, it indicates to others that you are active on the platform. Most of the users might want to keep that thing private. So, it would have been great if we would have been given a feature to hide our profile pictures from specific contacts in our lists.

Access Required to Send Messages to Unknown Contacts

Currently, if a user has your contact number, he can send you messages irrespective of whether you are on his contact list or not. It would be best if WhatsApp introduces a new feature regarding this. After introducing the feature, a user will have to first send a permission request to you, and then he can send you a message only after you approve his request.

Addition of Cross-Platform Chat Backups

This is one of the most significant drawbacks that are there on WhatsApp. It cannot transfer conversations whenever a user switches from iOS to Android and vice versa. Even though there are many third-party apps to help you out regarding this task, they don’t work that efficiently. We hope that WhatsApp will soon introduce a way to make this transition easier.

The Introduction of the DND Mode

It might be disturbing to get constant message notifications, especially if you are in a meeting or completing an urgent task. Currently, WhatsApp lacks a built-in do not disturb mode, and it would be best if WhatsApp rolls out this feature very soon.

Call Recording

We know this feature will never be introduced on WhatsApp, which is why we have kept it at the bottom of our wish list. Being illegal in most countries, native call recording remains absent on most of the audio calling applications. However, you can still use several third-party applications on WhatsApp for recording the calls. We may not tell you about their success rate, but it indeed depends upon your device. The call recording feature can be introduced if both parties agree with it, thereby ensuring that no party gets offended.

These were some of the features that we look forward to seeing in the upcoming updates of WhatsApp.
