The Greek tragedy and godly drama, Blood of Zeus, is back on the map. Blood of Zeus is an American adult animated TV series created by Vlas and Charley Parlapanides for Netflix. The show is produced by Powerhouse Animation Studios and was released on 17 October 2020.

The series is set in the universe of Greek mythology and revolves around the demi-god son of Zeus, Heron, trying to save Earth and Olympus. Blood of Zeus got an approval rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 13 reviews with an average rating of 8.56/10. We tried to make a list of the few movies that have a similar concept of mythological heroism.

Clash Of The Titans (1981/2010)

Clash Of The Titans is a 2010 action monster fantasy movie, a remake of the 1981 film of the same name. The movie is produced by MGM. Louis Leterrier directed the film and starred Gemma Arterton, Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes, Mads Mikkelsen, Liam Neeson, and Alexa Davalos. It was released in 3D on 2 April 2010.

The movie is loosely based on Perseus’ Greek myth. Clash Of The Titans collected a gross of $493 million against a budget of $125 million. However, the film received negative critics response.

The plot revolves around Titans, the gods who have divided the world among them. Poseidon takes the seas, Zeus takes the skies, and Hades is left with the Underworld. The Gods create the mortal people whose worship maintains the immortality of theirs. However, over time the mortals start to disobey the creators.

Both the films, the original and remake one explores the journey of Perseus. And the reader who has read the story about the mythological god will be delighted to see their imagination into action. The film received a 27% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 263 reviews with an average of 4.32/10. And on Metacritic, it discords 39 out of 100 based on 31 reviews.

Wrath Of The Titans (2012)

Wrath Of The Titans is an action fantasy movie and a sequel to the 2010 Clash of the Titans. It stars Sam Worthington, Bill Nighy, Rosamund Pike, Toby Kebbell, Ralph Fiennes, Liam Neeson, and Danny Huston. David Leslie Johnson and Dan Mazeau have directed the screenplay.

Wrath of the Titans is set a decade after the previous movie’s events as the Gods have lost control over the Titans. In the 2012 film, the demi-god son of Zeus (played by Liam Neeson), Perseus (played by Sam Worthington), lives as a fisherman with his son, Heleus (played by John Bell). Zeus visits Perseus and asks for help in return, saying that humans are not praying to the gods, and hence gods are losing their power to become immortal.

The movie is like a CGI green screen festival, but it is more decent than the predecessor. The film is a personal war against Ares and Hades’ forces to restore Zeus to the throne.

It received a 27% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 172 reviews, with an average rating of 4.47/10. On Metacritic, it got an average score of 37 out of 100.

The Legend Of Hercules (2014)

The Legend Of Hercules is an action fantasy movie written by Sean Hood and Daniel Giat. Renny Harlin directed the film and starred Gaia Weiss, Kellan Lutz, Liam Garrigan, Scott Adkins, and Roxanne McKee.

The plot of the movie is set in 1200 BC in ancient Greece. It follows King Amphitryon of Tiryns, who invades Argos. In personal combat, Amphitryon fights the rival King and seizes his kingdom. However, queen Alcmene is disgusted by her husband’s greed for army and power. She prays to Hera for her guidance. And Hera says she will allow her husband Zeus to impregnate Alcmene with the demi-god son, Hercules.

Hercules is arguably the favorite child of Zeus, and among many Greek myth figures, he has the majority of movies. In one of the narratives, Hercules was sold into slavery due to forbidden love with a princess promised to another. The story was more of a stepfather’s revenge tale than a “save the princess” movie.

The movie received inadequate responses from the audience as well from critics. It got a 4% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 82 reviews, with an average of 2.61/10.

The above are a few films to watch if you liked Netflix’s Blood of Zeus.
