If you’re a fitness freak and want to track your daily workout, there is nothing more sensible than getting yourself an advanced health smartwatch. Fitbit Sense is one of the most popular devices that offer stress management tools, skin temperature, heart health, and much more.

As there were reports regarding regulatory approval for the ECG app on Fitbit Sense a few weeks back, the app finally received confirmation last month. Moreover, the app is now live for Fitbit Sense users.

Before you start trying a new application, you’ll have to go through a little information first. To get started:

  1. Launch the Fitbit app and click on the ‘Discover’ tab.
  2. Locate the ‘Assessments & Reports’ section and click on the same.
  3. Navigate to the ‘Heart Rhythm Assessment’ option, and a pop-up menu will open. You’ll be prompted to confirm that you’re 22 years old or older.

Not only this, but you’ll have to confirm additional information like not having a pacemaker, and accept that whatever the results you get after tracking your ECG, the device doesn’t provide you a diagnosis. Furthermore, Fitbit Sense doesn’t discover heart attacks, stroke, or clots.

Once you confirm the conditions mentioned above, you’ll further be presented with the information regarding types of results you’re likely to get, including sinus rhythm, Atrial fibrillation, and inconclusive. In case the result appears inconclusive, it is because of your heart rate outside the range of 50-120bpm.

Earlier, Apple faced issues with the heart rate results above 120bpm; however, it was upgraded with the introduction of Apple Watch Series 6.

Once you’ve completed all the formalities and reading, you can move further to take the ECG reading. After you’ve synced the Fitbit app, the only remaining task is to locate the ECG app as it’s already there.

To perform the ECG readings on your smartwatch:

  1. Get yourself a chair, and sit still.
  2. Keep in mind that you must have a flat surface to rest your arm.
  3. Launch the application and select the wrist on which you’re wearing the Sense.
  4. Once you’ve selected the same, place your thumb and index finger on the opposing corners of the metal frame on Sense.

The process only takes a few seconds and the readings appear.

Interestingly, you can also download a PDF report to share with your medical practitioner. All you have to do is navigate to the ‘Assessments & Reports’ section under the Discover tab and then go to the ‘Heart Rhythm Assessment’ window. Your readings will pop-up on the screen.

The process of tracking ECG on your Fitbit Sense isn’t some rocket science. Instead, it is as simple as you perform with the Apple Watch. The only difference is that you get your reports much easier with the Apple Watch; however, Fitbit doesn’t give you a tough time as well.

Tracking ECG is a good way to know about regular heart readings for a healthy lifestyle. For all the existing Fitbit Sense owners, the app is live. On the other hand, if you’re a potential buyer, you can invest in the device without giving it a second thought because it offers all the perks you’re looking for.
