Glenmark Takes RYALTRIS® to Brazil: A New Chapter in Its Global Respiratory Story

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals is widening its footprint in respiratory care with the launch of RYALTRIS® Nasal Spray in Brazil, marking another step in the company's push to bring differentiated, science-led respiratory therapies to patients across the world. The launch, announced by Glenmark Specialty S.A. - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. - follows regulatory approval from Brazil's health authority, ANVISA (Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária), earlier this year.

RYALTRIS® is now approved for the treatment of moderate to severe symptoms of allergic rhinitis in adults and adolescents aged 12 and above, giving Brazilian patients and physicians access to a therapy already trusted in dozens of markets worldwide.

Why This Launch Matters

Allergic rhinitis isn't a niche concern in Brazil - it's a widespread chronic condition. Industry estimates suggest it affects roughly 20–30% of the population, translating to an estimated 40–60 million people living with the condition across the country. That scale of disease burden underscores the need for treatment options that are effective, convenient, and genuinely differentiated - not just another spray on the pharmacy shelf.

This is where RYALTRIS® stands apart. It's the first olopatadine-containing intranasal combination therapy launched in Brazil, pairing an antihistamine (olopatadine hydrochloride) with a corticosteroid (mometasone furoate) in a single nasal spray. That dual-action mechanism allows the therapy to address both the allergic and inflammatory components of rhinitis in one formulation, rather than requiring patients to juggle separate treatments.

A Milestone for Glenmark's Innovation Journey

Speaking on the launch, Marco Cerato, Executive Vice President & Global Head – Innovative Business at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, called it "a significant milestone" for the company's innovative respiratory portfolio, noting that Brazil - as the largest healthcare market in Latin America - represents a strategic opportunity to extend this differentiated treatment to more patients and healthcare professionals.

That framing fits into a bigger pattern. RYALTRIS® is Glenmark's first globally commercialized branded innovative product, and it has now secured approval in 57 markets worldwide, including the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Korea, Russia, and China. Brazil's addition to that list reinforces Glenmark's steady expansion strategy - entering the world's most populous and high-need markets one region at a time, rather than treating innovation as a one-market story.

It also reflects the strength of the company's R&D and development capabilities, which have driven RYALTRIS® from concept to a genuinely global commercial product - and its manufacturing scale, which supports consistent, high-quality supply across dozens of regulatory environments simultaneously.

Strengthening a Latin America Presence

The Brazil launch also builds on Glenmark's broader presence across Latin America, a region where the company has been steadily expanding access to its branded and innovative therapies. Positioning RYALTRIS® in Brazil isn't just a single-market entry - it's a foothold that can support further expansion of Glenmark's respiratory offerings across neighboring markets in the region over time.

The Bigger Picture: Respiratory as a Core Focus Area

Respiratory disease sits alongside dermatology and oncology as one of Glenmark's three core innovation-led therapeutic focus areas. The company has built deep clinical and development expertise in this space, and RYALTRIS® is arguably the clearest proof point of that strategy translating into real-world global reach.

With a diversified product portfolio spanning branded, innovative, and generic medicines, and a commercial footprint in more than 80 countries, Glenmark continues to position itself among the top biopharmaceutical companies globally - Scrip 100 ranked it among the Top 100 biopharmaceutical companies by pharmaceutical sales for 2024.

Looking Ahead

The RYALTRIS® launch in Brazil is a reminder that innovation in pharma isn't just about developing a new molecule - it's about the patient, regulatory, and commercial groundwork required to get a differentiated therapy into the hands of the people who need it, market by market. As Glenmark continues to expand access to its respiratory portfolio, Brazil becomes the latest - and one of the most significant - data points in that global journey.
