Song lyric database has no basis, finds Judge to sue Google since it doesn’t hold the copyright for the tunes.
On Monday, Google crushed a claim that supposed it was stealing lyrics from Genius Media, a song lyric database administrator. The claim affirmed that showing the verses in query items were anticompetitive. The lawsuit alleged were anticompetitive that shows the song lyrics in search results.
Last year, alleged lyrics thefts reports emerged with Genius affirming it could demonstrate lyrics recorded in Google search results are its own by taking a gander at the punctuations. It said in a claim recorded last December that once the apostrophes are changed into Morse code, they illuminate in the act.
Margo Brodie, US District Judge of the New York’s Eastern District dismissed Genius’ claim on Monday, finding that Genius isn’t the copyright holder when the lyrics are copyright ensured. However, those rights stay with the specialists who kept in touch with them.
