As you start confinement or crate training your pet puppy, you will most likely want to have playtime with him after letting him out.  But before you offer your pet his favorite plaything, take him outdoors to do his business and go potty.

Try using command words like “outside,” or “potty,” or whichever word works with your puppy to signal that he can now go outdoors to do his business.  Even if your yard has a fence, put a leash on your puppy during training so that he knows that it is not playtime but the time to do his potty business.

If you are with your puppy at home during the daytime, you will still want him kept inside his crate or a doggie playpen unless you can supervise him properly.  Allow your puppy outside time every couple of hours to ensure that he is not being confined with full bowels or bladder.

If you have concerns about your pet's health and/or behavior, make an appointment with your animal hospital Tipp City, OH.
