In today’s world, everyone wishes to be current, and that goes for being up to speed in the latest news stories and, of course, being aware of any breaking news as soon as possible.

Push notifications from the likes of Twitter and other social channels are likely to pull your website readers away should a story break whilst they’re browsing. The place to be at that very time is news websites, but if you could offer that news yourself, would you? Of course, you would.

How to add Google News to my website?

Adding google news to your website is, in itself, an easy and painless task. Finding out how to do it, however, can be difficult.

There was a time when Google offered up the HTML code to you to place a headline that might entice a click, but not anymore since technology has advanced. This, however, is not necessarily a bad thing. If anything, adding Google News as a widget to your website is the single most up-to-date way that you can add content value to your site for your visitors.

This is how to do it using the FeedWind widget…

Step 1: Set up a Google News RSS Feed.

First up, you’ll have to create an RSS feed URL manually. You can display them by whichever you fancy from “Top News,” topic, or search query. Whichever you decide to run with, use the following format to suit

Top News: https://news.google.com/news/rss

Topic: https://news.google.com/news/rss/headlines/section/topic/{topic}

Search Query: https://news.google.com/rss/search?q={query}

There are additional query strings that you can add to the above formats. For example, the following query string would change the country and language as required, such as:

News in English, and loaded from the United States:    &hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US:en

Step 2: Set up a FeedWind Widget.

This will offer your website a real-time carousel-style widget full of captivating, relevant, and valuable news sources as and when they happen or directly relevant to your industry.

To create a FeedWind widget, you will need to have a FeedWind account. Signing up takes seconds if you don’t already have an account.

Click the Create Widget button and select RSS Feed.

Paste the RSS feed code from step 1 into the Feed URL box.

Check you’re happy with the preview by clicking anywhere outside the box you’ve pasted into.

Get creative and customize your widget’s color, font, style, etc., in keeping with your own brand guidelines.

Adding Google News to your website is really that easy.

 The whole idea of offering news websites widgets on your own website is in keeping with the popular view that everyone should know everything as soon as it happens, be it current affairs in general or industry-specific. Breaking news becomes old news very fast, so allow your website visitor to get what they need without having to leave you.
