  1. Firstly, before starting drawing on Google Docs you have to open a new or an existing doc and place your cursor in the document where you want to add the drawing.
  2. Then select Insert > Drawing > +New which will provide you with an option to create a new drawing file.
  3. This will open Google Drawing with the toolbar on the top of Google Docs.
  4. In the toolbar, you can choose different things. In this toolbar, you get things like text boxes, action, lines, and shape. Also, each element of your shape and text from the drawing can be moved around the whole canvas freely.
  5. After you have drawn what you want in your document. Tap on the Save and Close option which is on the top right-hand side in the blue bar.

Note: There is no option from where you can go to Google Drawings apps from Google Docs. So, it will not be easy for you to switch back to Google drawing if you don’t find the tool which you are looking for in the pop-up. But there is a solution to it, you can directly open Google Drawing and then create your drawing and then add it in your Google Docs later.

Import Drawing from Google Drawings

  1. Firstly, open your Google Drawing and draw what you want to add.
  2. When you are done editing in Google drawing, you don’t have to do anything; it will save it to your Google drive automatically. But you can try something else too. You can click on the folder icon which is at the top and move the file to the location of your choice.
  3. Now, after your drawing is done and you get back to Docs. Then go to Insert > Drawing > From Drive as you earlier selected new. This time select from the Google Drive file that you just drew to add to Google Docs Document.

Note: As we already told you earlier that both are in sync. So, any changes you make to the Google Drawings file later or at any point in time. It will affect the drawing in your docs in real-time.
