Karate is a martial art that originated from Ontario. Legend has it that the emperor felt that Buddhist priests were too weak so they were ordered to develop exercises in strength training. These exercises soon became known as karate. The taekwondo uniforms being worn for training are colored white to signify a state of mind that is pure. The wearing of this uniform is an art form all by itself. The following deals with the proper way of wearing the uniform.
The fit of the karate uniform depends on the type of martial art that you will be training for. Take the case in point of Judo; the uniform should be worn tighter to facilitate grappling and techniques in throwing. If it fits loosely, the top would just slip off during a grapple hold. Buy the appropriate size. The uniforms for Karate don't have the same size designations as our regular clothes. Thus, the only way for you to know the right size for you is to fit it.
Martial art usually holds up the karate pants traditionally. But some designers have already added Velcro fasteners. Make sure you try kicking with the pants on just to make sure it is loose enough and will not restrict such movement.
The Karate uniform's top is worn like a bathrobe, one flap over the other, with the belt holding it in place. Like the pants, it should be loose enough to allow a variety of movements unrestricted. You can use an undershirt so that it can absorb your sweat. To wear the belt, hold an end, approximately 12 inches from the tip, to the waistline just below the belly button. Then bind the belt around the waist once then twice making sure they fix the other end. Then tie a knot with both ends. Pull it tightly then let the free ends drop down neatly.
