How to handle worry so your mind stays healthy

Stress is normal, but if it isn't noticed or dealt with, it can make it hard to do things in everyday life.  

 

The  stress management counseling 27% of people in 2022 that they were so stressed out that they couldn't do their work. About 75% of people said that anxiety and sadness, as well as physical problems like headaches, extreme fatigue, and nausea, were caused by worry.  

 

Women said they felt like their rights were being taken away in the same year that Roe v. Wade was rejected. The APA study showed that women are more likely than men to say that the rules make them feel unsafe in the United States. Two out of three people (66%) said that the way things are in politics right now is a big source of stress in their lives. 

 

As April (Stress Awareness Month) comes to an end and May (Mental Health Awareness Month) starts, we've put together six ways to deal with stress, as well as examples of women-owned companies that are coming up with new ways to help people feel better and calm down when times are tough. 

 

  1. Care for your body well.

Even though it may seem clear, walking, jogging, planting, or doing anything else that gets you moving is one of the best ways to deal with stress. According to the Mayo Clinic, almost any kind of physical exercise can help you feel less stressed. It also says that exercise makes your hormones and other chemicals in your brain that make you feel good work better. Eating a variety of fruits, veggies, and whole grains can also help experience.    

 

Tone It Up is one of many businesses in the wellspace that are run by women. It was started by Karena Dawn and Katrina Scott. It helps you stay inspired by giving you workout plans, nutritional supplements (Target sells its protein powders), and a place to meet other women.  

 

Sunbasket is a service that gives you healthy recipes and the ingredients you need to make them at home. It was started by a cook in San Francisco named Justine Kelly. It is part of a company called Blue Apron. The company also says that it is aware of its carbon footprint and tries to send just the right amount of food for each meal so that less food is lost.  

 

  1. Go to counseling or therapy every week.

Therapy can help people even if they don't have a problem with their mental health. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, many treatment services have moved online, making it easier than ever to go to regular classes over the phone or video chat.  

 

Alyssa Musket and Vittoria Bergeron started Sesh, a tech company that helps trained therapists run group therapy sessions. Sessions on Sesh talk about things like sadness, anxiety, relationships, being a parent, jobs, and more. In 2020, the company got $3 million in seed funding, and Musket and Bergeron were put on Forbes' list of 30 Under 30.  

 

Dr. Jude Black, who started E-Therapy Cafe, wants to make it easy for people to get therapy when they need it the most. After helping military leaders and their families at a company called Cope Today, Black started her own company to help people with different therapy needs over the Internet.
