Removing Paint from your Carpets

Industrial paint products are wonderful, especially when it comes to their durability and long lasting adhesion to surfaces. But sometimes, floor paint end up in places where they don't belong. It's best to call in a professional before attempting do-it-yourself methods if you need industrial cleaning services. If you're dealing with water-, oil-, or latex-based paints, then here are some tips for removing them safely at home. But remember – always check an inconspicuous area first!

Removing water-based paint stains from carpets

If the water-based paint stain is still wet, just blot the area with a wet kitchen towel. Don't scrub it—just blot the area. If the water-based paint stain has dried, use hot some hot water and a small amount of dishwashing liquid. Allow that solution to sit on the surface of the carpet for a few minutes so that it's able to soften up any stubborn paint stains. Scrape away at those stains until they're gone (but not too hard!). You can always apply more soapy solution if you need to as well!

With dry paint, you'll need to use a handheld steamer to soften the stain. Apply the steam right where it needs attention and rub the stained area with a sharp object like a pin or knife—that way you can scrape off excess dried paint while loosening it. It may take some time, but don't rush it! Be careful not to damage your carpet fibers with all this scrubbing around either.

First you should try to blot the spot using kitchen towel in order to remove as much of the wet paint as you can, taking care not to scrub in order to avoid pushing paint further into the carpet fibres. Mix a cup of lukewarm water with one teaspoon of dishwashing detergent – just make sure the detergent is mild. Begin by working away at the outside of the paint stain, gradually moving inward and carefully removing paint as you proceed by blotting the affected area. Once complete, allow the area dry completely, then follow up with vacuuming for any other residuals that may have been left behind.
