Tokyo, the heart of Japan is a legendary city with multifaceted tourist attractions located all around. All it takes is a keen eye, a curious mind, and an adventurous soul to unravel the traditional yet ultra-modern beauty of this city.  If you or someone you know has ever spent some time in Japan, then you would know what to expect from this grand yet minimalistic city where millions of friendly people live. Tokyo is a whole new world in itself, so make sure you are prepared to immerse yourself in the Japanese culture, food scene, and their modern yet peaceful way of living. After deciding where to stay in Tokyo, you can go on to spend a fulfilling vacation.

Here is a guide to help you spend 3 unforgettable days in the capital city of the Land of the Rising Sun;

Day – 1 in Asakusa and Shibuya:

As morning greets you in the warm and friendly city of Tokyo, you can prepare to start your first day by visiting the traditional and the oldest Buddhist temple of Sensoji located in Asakusa. Every year millions of people come to visit this 1400 years old shrine dedicated to the goddess of mercy. The serene area around Sensoji temple is sure to leave you with pure thoughts and work up your appetite.

Luckily, you will find hundreds of eateries, restaurants, and traditional food vendors near Asakusa to satiate your hunger. There is a famous micro-bistro called Pétanque where you can gorge on delicious deep fried chicken tulips with mayo complimented by a wide variety of wine. You can walk around and discover many hidden gems all around this place if you have the time.

After that you can take the Ginza subway line towards Shibuya to see just how focused and mad busy the Japanese are at the world-famous Shibuya “scramble” crossing. At this point, you can find some of the biggest department stores. You can also grab a bite before returning because each of these stores have huge restaurants available.

Day – 2 in Harajuku and Roppongi:

If you are ever in Tokyo, you cannot afford to miss Harajuku. This district can be called one of the most fashionable places in the world. Several high-end fashion designers have their shops set up in this area and you would love to spot hundreds of artists, models, and fashionable people donning their own specialised attire. It’s a shopaholic’s paradise where you can find cosplay, decora, gothic, Lolita, chic, and even cutesy fairy kei fashion.

Afterwards, you can visit Roppongi where you will find the beautiful and iconic Tokyo Tower. It looks like an Eifel-like tower but in red paint. If you want to do more shopping, then Roppongi Hills is where you should definitely go. Make sure to catch the sunset view of the beautiful city from an observatory located here.

Day – 3 in Ueno and Akihabara:

On the last day of your stay in Tokyo, make sure to check out the “Otaku” culture for which Japan is famous worldwide. In Akihabara you will find the opposite of the traditional and religious side of Tokyo and its people. Akihabara is a haven of electronic goods, latest gadgets, and anime/manga shops. The weeb inside you would love to experience retro video games in arcades and enjoy some quality in cute, themed cafes like Maid Café and Neko (cat) Café.

Ueno is also worth visiting to relax, wander around, and enjoy various types of parks, food, exhibitions, and Japanese beer. Ueno is also a great place for some sightseeing in various museums of art and culture.
