Pinterest Group Board: Introduction

The whole structure of Pinterest works like bookmarks. Whenever we love something, we save to our boards. Our boards act like a beacon to give an idea of what your blog/business is all about.

Now, think of a place where everyone is coming and saving their best ideas with each other. That, my friend, is a Pinterest group board for you.

Every board you create has an option to add contributors. Once you add another person to that board, both you and the other person can save any pin to the particular board. That board is also visible on your and the other person’s profiles.

How can Pinterest Group Boards help you to extend your reach?

Suppose, you have only 100 followers who regularly get to see your pins. You regularly pin to your group board with another 5 contributors. Let us assume that two of the contributors have more than 1000 followers. As the group board is visible on every contributor’s profile, your content is exposed to lots of people.

Similarly, the group boards generally have a large following. One of my group boards has more than 5 lakh followers. So, even if I have only 300 followers, my pins are visible to such a large audience.

Well, here is the tricky part. Most of the group boards follow certain rules and criteria. Unless you meet the criteria, it is hard to be accepted. However, being accepted to a group board is not also hard. Here are tips to join Pinterest group boards and reach millions of people.

Before you join any group board

If you are new to Pinterest, have patience. Pin regularly for at least 1 month before you apply for any group board.
Pin content related to your niche. Whenever you apply a group board, the creator of the board is going to check your profile. Unless he/she founds that your profile matches the content of the group board, your chances of being accepted is hard.
Keep your blog board updated.
Always pin quality pins.

Now, where to find group boards in my niche?

Follow the bloggers who have good page views on Pinterest. It is obvious that they would be members to a few group boards. All the group boards will be visible on their profiles.

Check the group boards and their rules. Note down the boards which appeal to your blog and brand.

Apply to them one by one. Make sure you follow the group creator and the board before you apply to their board.

How to join Pinterest Group boards if your profile is new and fewer pins/followers?

Yes. The process would be little slow but you would get accepted eventually. Try the following tips

Make sure that your personal boards show that you are truly committed to the group boards’ topics.
Secondly, start applying to group boards that are young and relatively easy to join.

Ok, now you have found and joined some of the group boards. The next question which needs to be answered is what and how to pin to the group boards.

Always, I repeat, always pin your own content to the group board. Remember the blog board we discussed? Pin from your blog board to the group boards. Most of the group boards have the rule to repin 1-3 pins against every pin you pin to the board.

What I do is I pin 1-3 pins daily to my group boards and then I repin 3-5 other people’s pin to my personal brands. That’s how I get content for my personal brands and expose my pins to a larger audience.
