The HP LaserJet Pro M15w is a small shoe-box size printer that can print bundle documents quickly and consistently. It is quite friendly for work environments and economical compared to its inkjet rivals. This blog covers everything you need to know about the HP LaserJet Pro M15w. So, read it till the end to look at its features.

The HP LaserJet Pro M15w is a compact monochrome printer with only one input tray that supports only A4 and a few smaller document sizes. However, it doesn’t support duplex printing. For a flatbed scanner, better to wait for a similarly designed HP LaserJet Pro MFP 28w.

Design

To begin with the review, the first thing that comes to mind is how it appears. Hence, design is something we choose according to our work environment. So, let me tell you the HP LaserJet Pro M15w is designed for small home offices. The good thing about this printer is that it doesn’t take up much space. It is no bigger than a shoebox and taller than an average smartphone. Though the LCD is absent, you only get three buttons that are quite useful and don’t ruin the printer’s appearance.

You would be working peacefully with this friendly printer. You’re allowed to load 100 pages into the paper tray. If you overload it, the paper will overflow on your desk as a fairly flimsy extending plastic ram supports the output bin. Also, the toner cartridge is large and easily fits into the machine. Thanks to its companion app that will prompt you when the cartridges need replacement. Plus, the standby mode makes no noise at all. The USB port is located on the printer’s rear side, and the USB cable is included in the box.

Features

The features the HP LaserJet Pro M15w offers are somewhat limited. But sufficient enough with its small size and affordable cost. It allows only 150 sheets to be fed in those including no other than A4, A5, ten DL, or C4 envelope sizes. Also, the printer is fully monochrome and doesn’t feed multiple cartridges. Apart from this, it can print one side of the page; for duplex prints, you need to turn the page manually.

Output quality

The HP LaserJet Pro M15w produces a somewhat low resolution of 600X600 dpi; the output quality is still impressive. The text quality is sufficient for various businesses. After evaluating the printer’s working, we found no major issue in receiving a high-quality output compatible with many business applications.

However, the machine is not so good at high-quality printing photos, not even grayscale images.

Connectivity and performance

The HP LaserJet Pro M15w offers plenty of connectivity options. Its standard interfaces include WiFi and a direct connection with a PC via USB 2.0, Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, WiFi direct, Mopria, and HP Smart App, allowing mobile connectivity.

Furthermore, the print speed is 19ppm which isn’t that impressive, yet enough to meet your regular tasks. Unfortunately, there is no option to alter the quality and speed of your machine. Since the printer doesn’t include a scanner, the companion app can use your phone’s camera to scan documents wirelessly. Plus, the HP Smart app supports printing from Cloud apps easily and conveniently.

The print text provides similar results as a full-size laser printer would. However, the print resolution is low, but the results are thorough and consistent with small text and protect documents from smearing.

The HP LaserJet Pro M15w is specifically designed for text documents. The black & white photos also have the same speed and resolution. Although, the photos lack in quality due to minimum resolution. But that’s not the printer’s fault as it’s not designed for photo printing.

And one of the features that are desirable while looking for a printer is the duplexer, which is not here. Still have a range of valuable features that prevent toners from getting dry in between print jobs. Therefore, it saves a hefty amount of running costs.

Compact and convenient

The HP LaserJet Pro M15w is a perfectly compact-sized printer. It doesn’t occupy much space, works conveniently at any office, and even stays virtually unnoticeable. The good thing is, it’s portable, and you can take it to various trade shows and so on. However, it’s an expensive printer if you usually need high-volume printing. But overall, the printer is compact, convenient, and affordable to purchase if your requirements meet its features.

Easy to set up

The HP LaserJet Pro M15w is the easiest to install with its slick smartphone app. All you need is to turn on the printer, and the app will identify its WiFi signal and join your network. Otherwise, you can connect via USB cable and WiFi direct. Plus, the toner cartridges are pre-installed and include no complex device settings. Also, the printer’s setup time is fairly low, about 8.4 seconds. Hence, you can print documents a few minutes after unboxing the printer.

Conclusion

Usually, laser printers are more cost-efficient than inkjets. However, they have a big size. But not with the HP LaserJet Pro M15w, which has a tiny compact size and fits well for work from home and even offices. It provides reliability and an easy setup with its HP Smart app. Though the print quality has limited resolution, it’s not built for photo printing. The lack of an automatic duplexer is a con as it could double your paper cost.
