Are you looking for a new hairstyle? A haircut can not only improve the health of your hair, but it can also give you a sense of empowerment.
Alannah Read, Owner and Head Stylist at Ella & Jade Hair, worked up the courage to cut her hair into a pixie crop after having long hair as a teenager and shoulder-length hair throughout her early twenties.

Alannah has gained 20 minutes back in her hectic morning routine as a business owner, but she has also gained a noticeable sense of empowerment and self-confidence.
“I've always liked short hair but didn't think I could pull it off like many of my clients,” Alannah explained.
“Then, two months ago, I went for it and got the chop, and the difference has been nothing short of liberating and empowering.
“I believe that as a society, we hide behind our hair and are certainly too afraid to have fun, show our personality, dare to be different, and deviate from the norm when it comes to our hair.
“I've never felt sexier since cutting my hair short; my partner adores it, and I'm having fun styling it with my wardrobe and beauty routine; I truly feel like a new woman!”
Are you considering getting a haircut? Alannah sat down with William, Head of Education and member of the Australian FAME team, to go over all of the questions you should be asking yourself if you're thinking about getting a haircut.
One of William's recommendations is to work with a stylist you trust to create a haircut that will highlight your facial features while also fitting your lifestyle.
“Consider how much time you have in the mornings and whether you prefer a natural texture and colour preference,” William suggested.
“Personally, I prefer a classic shape in a block colour that is more versatile; by adding a slight wave to the front, I can easily transition from day to night.
“Don't be afraid! Contrary to popular belief, a pixie style is appropriate for every face shape, and when done correctly, it can highlight and showcase specific features that are more flattering than hiding behind long hair.”
