It is time to take an honest look at how you rose to WOW WOTLK Classic Gold this position. What were your ambitions and what were the most important areas of focus that you identified as you began your leading role at Blizzard?
I think that the thing that was most significant–and which I'm convinced that's the reason Mike Morhaime, the co-founder and the former president of Blizzardwas able to choose me to be the president–was the fact that Blizzard is really a development-led business and that the technology as well as the game focus we have is there across all leadership levels and is really important and extremely strong.
And so one primary thing that I took on was to bring Ray Gresko on as the chief development officer and then bring on Allen Adham to the executive team to raise the proportion of people creating games as well as recently created games, a lot more. The focus is back on our fundamentals and a focus on what makes Blizzard's game great games. That's kind of the very, the start of what we wanted to accomplish.
In the past year, we've been looking at every single project we're working on. We've looked at various activities that we were doing that we felt that we could do more of. We have looked at different things in our lives that we thought we could do better at. Then we've come up with this launch of WoW Classic, which has been just a great moment for us. And we were at our first World of Warcraft League for season two, and were making preparations to go to the last week of the year with BlizzCon. It's been a great ride.
For those who don't have a clear understanding of what Blizzard is trying to achieve now, what would your opinion be on recent shakeups at the executive level, layoffs, and the kind of direction the company is looking to move into?I believe the most important aspect that is a fact that has been proven over time, and is going to be true for the foreseeable future is that we're a values-driven and a values-led business, and we take most of our important strategic decisions with that perspective.
In retrospect, I would say when you are a founder who's been in the chair for more than 28 years, I believe that it is normal and natural and normal to experience fears, uncertainties and doubt about what we're going to do in the future.
What I feel is vital to let people know is that the values that have built this community and also created Blizzard are still those same principles. We're still adamant about gameplay being the most important thing among all. We're still focused on providing excellent user experiences and a high-quality community approach to everything that we do cheap WOW WOTLK Classic Gold. This could not be more crucial in the near future.
