ICT stands for information and communication technology. ICT is described as a group of elements, components, and a framework that enables the system of modern computing. There is no single universal term for ICT. It is widely understood to mean all networks, devices, and computers, systems that enable people/organizations to interact in the digital world; (i.e., non-profit agencies, governments, companies, and criminal enterprises).

ICT consists of both mobile & internet networks. ICT covers the Internet-enabled sphere. It also contains old technologies, such as, radio, landline telephones & television, etc. These technologies continue to be widely used in conjunction with advanced ICT components like robotics & artificial intelligence.

In general, ICT is used to represent a more extensive and comprehensive list of all components related to computer and digital technology than IT.ICT is used for information technology (including IT) and computer technologies. A comprehensive list of ICT components continues to grow. Specific components have existed for decades, like and telephones & computers. More recent entries are others, like digital TVs, smartphones, and robots.

It involves increasingly automated processes, with lower costs, a significant technological change in which companies turn the overwhelming quantity of ICT information into insights into new products and services. ICT has also made it possible for customers to choose how to shop, communicate, and interact, including online shopping, telemedicine, and social networking.

IMPORTANCE OF ICT IN EDUCATION:

We all have these in every part of our life, whether computers, plasma TV or mobile phones. ICT has entered and changed many areas of our lives in so far as we live in a consumer world. In education, ICT facilitates the engagement and retention of knowledge: incorporation. To see a form of ICT in our lives, we do not have to go any further than our own home or space.

The benefits of ICT in education are that students can all learn from the classroom's instructional content. CT promotes expertise in higher-order thinking. The use of ICT builds ICT literacy & ICT capability. The use of ICTs motivates learning.
