I'm going to share some sectioning secrets with you that the advertising industry doesn't want you to know, but this designer does, so welcome to my “sectional confessional.”

Advertisers have done a fantastic job convincing the public that a sectional sofa is a perfect addition to any living space. To the point that a lot of folks just pick a sectional without thinking about it.

This is the crux of the issue. As a general rule, sectionals create more issues for designers than they solve.

The purpose of this series is to get you thinking about whether or not getting a 7 Seat Sectional Sofa is the best option for you.

Sectionals, No. 1 Avoid Buying Sectional Sofas If you're looking to buy a sectional sofa.

You probably did so since it was the best fit for your living room at the time.

Unfortunately, it's quite doubtful that your current 7 Seat Sectional Sofa will work in a different room in your house or even in another house. Eventually leading to a monetary loss.

Interestingly, millennials change residences more frequently than any other generation before them. The average millennial moves every two years, according to a survey of 1,000 people. Not only that, but seventy-three percent of millennials stated they expected to relocate within the next decade. Investing wisely in furniture is important because of all the inevitable changes that will occur in your life.

Sectionals, No. 2 Sectionals Are Not a Convenient Seating Option for Visitors.

Wait, you mean to say…? But here I was thinking… So it would appear…

It goes against everything you've ever been taught about the 7 Seat Sectional Sofa, I know. Please take a deep breath and allow me to explain. People would rather sit across from one another than next to them since it facilitates conversation.

Consider going out to a nice restaurant for a meal. Wouldn't it be odd if strangers choose to sit next to each other in a booth rather than across from each other?

Thirdly, there is nowhere convenient to set down refreshments.

Sectionals, No. 3 this is the most common practical problem with sectionals.

Because of its size and form, a 7 Seat Sectional Sofa coffee or side table is often inconveniently located and used by only a small percentage of those seated in it.

To avoid having to hold their refreshments awkwardly during the big game, everyone is doing their best to keep their hands free.

Sectionals, No. 4 Achieve the Effect of a Reduced Space

Although it goes against common sense, a large sectional will shrink the space. Lined up against the wall, 7 Seat Sectional Sofas are a common sight (s). This creates a void in the middle of the room that is cold and forbidding. The eye is tricked into perceiving a smaller space when a sofa of standard height is placed in a large room.

Sectionals, No. 5 They draw attention and serve as a showpiece in any space

As the largest pieces of furniture in a space, they naturally draw all eyes to themselves. In terms of aesthetics, this is not great.

A striking architectural element, a one-of-a-kind piece of wall art, or an exquisitely crafted piece of wooden furniture will make a far greater impression on guests.

Sectionals, No. 6 Reasons Why Sectionals Aren't Versatile Enough For Your Space

Since 7 Seat Sectional Sofa establish fixed routes, they restrict movement throughout a room. Not only does it impede the flow of traffic, but it also stifles the aesthetics of the design. Particularly with open floor plans, where movement from room to room is prioritized, this is essential.

Sectionals, No. 7 Sectional Sofas Do Not Last Longer Than Traditional Sofas

Marketing's magic like this is what makes it work. One of the first words that probably come to mind when you think of a sectional sofa is “family friendly.” Once we hear the phrase “family-friendly,” our minds immediately rush to the assumption that it must be long-lasting. The reality, however, is quite the opposite.

Two main factors determine a piece of furniture's longevity:

The superiority of the build

Whether or whether you have the means to handle it.

Real toughness has less to do with some magical “performance fabric” and more to do with the people who use it every day. It's possible to get 10–15 years out of a cheaper 7 Seat Sectional Sofa if you treat it gently, and the same is true of a more expensive one if you're kind with it, but both will wear out sooner if you're too tough on them.
