Aikido is a defensive martial art because it teaches us how to defend against several attacks and helps to train the individual's state of mind and physical condition.

Why choose Aikido of Gainesville?

  • It helps to improve posture and a positive state of mind that affects how we move in the world and how other people perceive us.
  • Provides the ability to maintain the physical centre and mental calm that helps us meet stressful situations or resolve conflicts on the street, at school, in a business meeting, or at home.
  • It helps to improve physical things like balance, timing, and reaction.
  • One of the purposes of repeated training in Aikido Florida Training is to move these things from conscious processing to automatic reflexes.
  • Aikido also helps develop our spirit, sense of well-being, awareness, and compassion.

How does Aikido Florida work?

The ideal distance is when your attacker must take at least one step to touch you. This distance mainly requires a motion of convergence for an attack to be executed, and that motion of convergence is a movement of energy toward you. Aikido Florida works by blending with or ‘stealing' that energy from your attacker and redirecting or reversing it into a throw or locking the attacker. In practice, however, especially in the face of an actual attack, it's more complicated than it may seem to apply many standard entries used to gain the initial control. If an opponent succeeds in getting close by concealing his intention, the convergence motion will have already occurred. And if the attack involves a brutal, fast, violent flurry of multiple blows, it can be challenging to blend into it or get a handle on the attacker to redirect or reverse the attack. Sometimes the attacker faces difficulty when skilled and unskilled people use fakes to set up their attack or grabbing attacks that involve violent pulling and pushing, as most grabbing attacks obviously will.

What is Iwama style Florida?

Iwama style includes a combination of traditional Japanese weapons. Iwama style Florida has a firm grip when starting most kata (drills). Most Aikido styles Florida uses a softer grip method when starting their kata. The Iwama Aikido style grip is solid and robust, and the aim is to pin the whole body with a solid strategic grip.

Techniques of Iwama Style Florida While most aikido practitioners stress a vertical posture, Iwama Florida stylists practice with the hip tucked to allow the back leg's power to be better exerted. The attacker's back should be kept straight while practicing, and the center of mass held between the legs, leaning forward creates an impression. The neck is ideally should be kept relatively straight. Also, while several aikido styles practice with the hips square the front, Iwama style Florid has often had their hips slightly rotated.
