TV Recycling is the savior of Mother Earth. How? Millions of TVs are bought every year, and half of the millions are sent to the landfill space. It causes toxic substances to peep into soil and water bodies. If we start extracting precious materials from televisions before subjecting them to waste, this will eliminate environmental and health hazards.

What will be the pros of TV Recycling?

TVs are generally of two types- flat screen and cathode ray tube. Each of these types is created differently and with differing elements. Though CRTs pose a threat to the environment, yet Flat Screen TVs also comprise hazardous materials.

  • CRTs: In the disassembling process of CRTs, we get plastic, steel, copper wire; printed circuit boards (PCBs), a yoke, and the tube. The tube includes lead and phosphors that pose the highest hazard to our environment.
  • Flat-Screen TVs: Flat-Screen televisions are the most used televisions built now, and we can get plastic, steel, aluminum, glass, copper wire, and PCBs after recycling them. While it does not have the same environmental consequence as cathode ray tubes, there are still dangerous materials in the components of Flat Screen televisions.

If we opt for Appliance Recycling instead of discarding them, we will reap the following benefits:

1) By constructively managing waste products, we can gradually diminish the size of our landfills. As the population expands, it will become challenging for the landfills to endure so much trash. Our cities and beautiful landscapes will suffer pollution, poisoning, and many health issues. The advantages of television recycling are that it helps keep the pollution in control and diminish it with time.

2) Recycling will help the new resources from getting exploited- new appliances create from the junk items.

3) When you recycle items, you save energy which results in fewer greenhouse gas emanations. Greenhouse gases are essentially liable for a rise in global warming.

4) E-waste Recycling saves 520 megalitres of water, 400,000 gigajoules of energy, and 160,000 cubic meters of landfill.

TV Recycling process made simpler!

1. Recycling companies place collection bins in particular geographical locations and transfer the electronic waste from these areas to recycling firms.

2. Elements in the electronic waste stream must be processed and separated into clean products which produce new products.

3. E-waste products are disassembled into pieces of 100 mm size.

4. A strong overhead magnet separates iron and steel from the waste stream on the conveyor. The separated steel materials are ready for sale as recycled steel.

5. The separated streams of aluminum, copper, and circuit boards are gathered and prepared for sale as recycled commodity materials.

6. At last, the separation process plucks the remaining metals from the plastic to make the stream much more refined. The separated materials are the raw materials for sale.

Conclusion:

TV recycling is a necessity of the hour. Our well-being is dependent on the well-being of Mother Earth that recycling processes contribute. Thus, don't dump your old TV and save the environment.
