One of Dune’s key cast members, Jason Momoa, stated that he would not see his upcoming science fiction movie, Dune.

Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming science-fiction movie Dune is based on the 1965 Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name. The first movie will cover half of the plot. Jon Spaihts wrote the film’s screenplay, and it stars Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, and Javier Bardem.

The release date of the film has been rescheduled twice due to the pandemic. Dune is now planned for the theatrical release on 1 October 2021, in IMAX and 3D in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures.

However, actor Momoa’s comment on the film has generated much excitement. Dune is one of the most significant projects of the actor’s career. He explained why he wouldn’t see the movie in theatres after many delays and anticipations.

Joseph Jason Namakaeha Momoa is an American actor known for his popular character Arthur Curry / Aquaman in Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Aquaman. The actor has also gained huge fame for his roles as Khal Drogo in the fantasy drama HBO TV series Game of Thrones, Declan Harp in the Discovery Channel historical drama series Frontier, Ronon Dex in the Syfy science fiction series Stargate Atlantis and Baba Voss in the Apple TV+ science fiction series See. Now he will be playing Duncan Idaho in the adaptation of the science fiction novel Dune. Momoa also received the CinemaCon Awards in the category of Male Rising Star for his role in Game of Thrones and Conan the Barbarian.

Recently, during an interview with Men’s Health, the award-winning actor commented that he would wait on seeing his upcoming film on the big screen so that he can enjoy his first movie after the pandemic with his whole family. Jason also shared that his son is scared of seeing his dad in the action sequence. And his son asked him in the middle of the movie if his dad is okay? Being a caring father, the actor consoled his son and told him that he is right and that the film took place some two years ago. Jason lives with his wife, Lisa Bonet, two children, 13-year-old daughter Lola and 11-year-old son Wolfie.

The plot of the upcoming movie Dune is set in future humanity and revolves around Duke Leto Atreides. He accepts the offer to supervise the dangerous deserted planet, Dune. The planet is the source of the spice that might extend human life. The substance would make the people superhuman and make faster-than-light travel. However, he knows that the opportunity might be a trap, but Leto anyway decides to go.

Before Denis Villeneuve, the filmmaker David Lynch tried to adapt the novel into a film in 1984. The film got the worst reviews and was poorly received by the audience. One of the critics, Roger Ebert, gave Lynch’s movie one out of four stars and wrote that the film is ugly, incomprehensible, unstructured and a real mess. After many failed attempts, Villeneuve is now trying to bring the beautifully written novel on the big screen.

Paramount Pictures announced the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune. The shooting of the movie started on 18 March 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. The team completed the shooting in July 2019. It seems the actor has difficulty spending some collective time with his family, so he decided to enjoy his film together. Besides, during the coronavirus, it makes more sense to wait than rushing to the theatres on day one. However, the same should be suggested to the fans eagerly waiting for the movie to release.

The novel is considered one of the difficult books to adapt into the film. There are many failed examples of the novel. Hence director Denis Villeneuve and Warner Bros. Pictures are carefully planning the film as they want the film to create a successful franchise just like Marvel has one.
