For last one month, I was busy with an event called Celebrate Spring at North East: Manas Spring Festival with two of my friends. The aim of the event was to promote local food and culture of the villages of North East India. It was full of positive energy with around 400 guests from India and abroad tasting our food, learning about our culture and mingling with each other. Among the guests, there was a group of bloggers who came to our invitation to enjoy the event. It was good to see young people taking blogging as a side hustle and enjoying it. Most of them are willing to take it as a profession but do not know how to proceed. One of them asked to share my journey as a blogger and I was happy to share it.

My journey as a blogger is a roller coaster ride. It started as a passion but soon it turned into my profession. When I started this blog, money-making was not in my mind. It was a hobby blog just like thousand blogs out there. I didn’t earn a single penny during my first two years.

The first call for money came when I was approached for a sponsored post. Till then, I was ignorant that I can actually make money from my blog. But one after other, I started getting offers. Within six months, the income from the blog surpassed my 9-5 job’s salary. It gave me the confidence to pursue blogging full time. I admit I was a little sceptic about it at first, but who doesn’t love some extra money? One led to another and the blog has turned eventually business for me.

I now fully consider my blogs as my online entrepreneurship. I love writing and it has empowered me economically beyond my imagination and expectations. It has given me the freedom to work from anywhere I want and be with my child all the time.

Before you start working on your blog professionally, consider the following points.

Blogging needs lots of energy and hard work from you. You need to create content for your blog, promote it online-offline, answer the comments and connect with the blogosphere. It is time-consuming and needs your constant attention.

Ask yourself if you are ready to cut your ‘me’ time for browsing Facebook or TV channels to give to the blog? Ask yourself if you are ready to invest time to your blog even on Sundays or other holidays? If the answer is ‘yes’, you are almost ready to give serious blogging a warm welcome.

Decide yourself first why are you blogging? If you are blogging for passion, that’s great. Blogging is the fastest way to popularize your creativity and establish you as an expert. And if you are thinking to earn from it, you must be prepared with your blogs from the very first day of blogging.

Here is my journey as a blogger. It is possible to make money from blogging. It is possible to turn your passion into a profession. All you need is to work dedicatedly and passionately.
