Kashmir has been Bollywood's love affair for as long as we know. The most beautiful and picturesque songs have been shot in the backdrop of beautiful Kashmir. Given below is a small testimonial from one of the people who travelled with us to Kashmir.
“I feel happy to admit that my first encounter with Kashmir was also through a Bollywood movie. When I first saw ‘Kashmir Ki Kali' and its legendary song “Tareef Karun Kya Uski” shot on Dal Lake, I was awestruck by its beauty. And ever since then, I was adamant that I want to travel to Kashmir at least for once in my life and capture its beauty through my eyes and save it in my heart. Fast-forward to many years later, I got the chance to explore Kashmir and could I have missed it? Absolutely not!
Out of all the places Dal Lake was something I can never forget. I rowed across the Dal Lake, with a mix of sun and wind splashing my face with its touch. It gave me the much needed solace, as if it understood all my problems and was there to comfort me. Maybe it's the beginning of a love affair between me and Dal Lake, because I'm definitely coming back.”
So it is definitely for sure that Bollywood is one of the first mediums through which we are introduced to the scenic beauty of this beautiful valley. So in this blog let's dive deep into different popular scenes and music videos of Bollywood and see the different locations where they were shot.
- Subhanallah, Yeh jawani hai Diwani
Gulmarg and Pahalgam
Yes, we know that Yeh Jawani hai Diwani is everyone's favourite travel film. It is a movie that introduced the general public to the thrill of travel, the value of love and friendship as well as the scenic beauty of everyone's go-to travel stop, Manali! But surprisingly, many iconic scenes of this movie weren't shot in Manali but Kashmir and Subhanallah is also one of them.
- Jiya re, Jab Tak Hain Jaan
Many parts of Jab Tak Hain Jaan were shot in Kashmir as shown in the movie and Jiya re wasn't any different. This song takes us through the Shikara ride in Dal Lake and the exciting feeling of romance in the beautiful waters of the lake. It is one of the golds of Bollywood we must say.
- Katiya karu, Rockstar
Here comes the cinematic masterpiece, Rockstar. While the songs and story of this movie by Imtiaz Ali have touched millions of hearts, one would agree that the visuals certainly have played a role in that. Heer's wedding took place in Kashmir and gave us a flavour of Kashmir culture. There was also a Katiya Karu song that showed us the beautiful roads and mountains of Pahalgam.
- Ishq Wala Love, Student of the Year
Another iconic love song shot in the valley of romance is Ishq Wala Love of Student of the Year. This coming of age film was the debut film of many now-famous actors and actresses and showed us the grand school life of the rich people. The beautiful white backdrop of Kashmir added to the beauty of this song as well to the aesthetics of the film.
Here we come to the end of this blog. And it seems like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonmarg and Dal Lake are Bollywood's favourite stops in Kashmir. So if you're planning your Kashmir trip, we do recommend looking for these in your Kashmir tour package so that you can witness these places first-hand.
We'll meet you next time with another blog, until then happy travelling!
