Lebo Chan, the other defendants said to pay $99 million

Revo Chan Wong-lin, former president of the now defunct Macau casino Junkit Takchun Group, and four other defendants have been ordered to pay no more than HK$779.7 million ($99.3 million) to the Macau government and five of Macau's six casino operators. The decision follows their sentencing of several crimes, including fraud.

On Friday, a Macau court sentenced Chan to a total of 14 years in prison. The court said Mr. Chan and several other defendants were found guilty of criminal association charges.

Other charges that have been proven to Chan include illegal gambling, illegal gambling operations in authorized locations, and fraud. 경마사이트프로

Four other defendants were found guilty of various charges on Friday. The two were each sentenced to 10 years in prison. One received 11 years and the other received 7 years. The four defendants were acquitted of all charges.

The ruling noted that the covert operation conducted by Mr. Chan and some of the other defendants was a fraud against the Macau government and six casino operators in the city.

Mr Chan and four other defendants said they would have to pay about HK$575.2 million to the Macau government as a way of compensation, and would also have to compensate five of Macau's six casino companies.

In a trial that began last December, it was alleged that the accused ran a criminal organization that generated at least HK$1.5 billion in illegal revenue for nearly six years. During the trial, Mr. Chan denied any wrongdoing.

Five out of six casino operators in the city were also complainants of the case through a local subsidiary.

In Friday's decision, the court said the five defendants would have to pay nearly HK$81.2 million to Galaxy Entertainment Group, HK$47 million to Sands China, HK$36.8 million to Win Macau, HK$35.6 million to SJM Holdings and HK$3.8 million to MGM China Holdings, respectively.

On Jan. 18, Alvin Chowchukwa, another former Macau junket boss who led the now defunct Sun City Group Inc., was sentenced to a total of 18 years in prison. Prosecutors and defendants each appealed Mr. Chow's sentence.
