Let’s Know More About Lab Automation

There have been reports of automated tools for scientific study at least since 1875. For the most part, these pioneering machines were created by scientists for use in the lab. Companies began offering increasingly complex automated technology after the Second World War. Through the 20th century, automation gradually increased in labs, but in the early 1980s, Dr. Masahide Sasaki established the first fully automated laboratory, ushering in a revolution.

The University of Nebraska Medical Center's Dr. Rod Markin developed one of the first clinical Lab Automation management systems in 1993. He presided over the Clinical Testing Automation Standards Steering Committee (CTASSC) of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry in the middle of the 1990s. This body later changed its name to become a region committee of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute.
