Two South Korean titans have dominated the smart TV industry in recent years. But who will come out on top? Here is our comparison of LG and Samsung in 2021, as well as a look ahead to both businesses' future.

Smart TVs are becoming increasingly popular in people's homes. But what exactly is a smart television? Simply described, it is a television that can connect to your home internet service via a wired ethernet line or Wi-Fi. It can stream apps, connect to smart home devices, and even has Alexa and Google Assistant built in. A smart TV eliminates the need for an additional device to streaming devices, so you won't need a Roku, Fire Stick, or Apple TV.

With the number of streaming services we use, it only makes sense to have a TV that can handle everything. Especially because many individuals are abandoning cable and relying solely on streaming alternatives. You may now get all you need without cable at a fraction of the price. Why wouldn't you make the transition to get rid of your cable company?

Checkout our comparison of LG vs. Samsung before you go out and buy that new TV. We decided to compare the two brands to determine if there was a clear winner.

LG vs Samsung: Which is Better?

LG and Samsung are two of the market's dominant TV brands. This is largely owing to the fact that both businesses produce televisions marketed at a variety of price ranges, 32-inch sets to high-spec75-inch sets costing several thousand pounds.

Both firms are also significant innovators in TV technology, with many of the best features on the market coming from LG and Samsung's R&D labs. Where the manufacturers differ is in the technologies used in their televisions. And there's a lot of disagreement regarding which is the greatest.

While LG has set the standard with its gorgeous OLED series of televisions, Samsung has stayed to its guns and focused on its own type of image optimization: QLED. Similarly, each brand employs an unique smart platform, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages.

LG or Samsung: which TV should you buy?

This is a difficult subject to answer because every TV buyer has a unique set of objectives. However, we will do our best to respond.

In terms of pure pedigree, LG is the superior brand. As previously said, its OLED televisions are among the greatest commercially available sets — and, on top of that, the webOS smart platform has a better reputation. You'd be hard pressed to find a television that can compete with the magnificent CX OLED flagship range as an all-rounder.

But here's the thing about televisions: flagship models and cutting-edge technology are great, but not everyone wants the most cutting-edge technology. There is still considerable pricing variation among LG's OLED televisions – but with QLED TVs starting at little over £500, we believe Samsung is the superior brand in terms of value for money.

A disclaimer: with the current advancements in both OLED and QLED televisions on the horizon, we're quietly optimistic that entry-level pricing for both will begin to decline, making them more affordable options for the ordinary consumer.
