Interior designers spend their lives studying the little details that make a room just perfect. Similar to a beautifully directed movie, a well-decorated room is instantly engaging and impressive while also being functionally designed for comfort and ease of use.

Your living room is probably one of the first spaces someone sees when they enter your home, meaning there's a lot of pressure to make it look perfect.

The mistakes you make in Living Room Decor:

        i) Buying a rug that is too big or too small for your living room will mess up the entire space:-

“A rug that is too large will look overwhelming in the space and can make the room appear smaller. A rug that is too small forces your room’s furniture to be closer together, leaving the room feeling unbalanced and creating the feeling of wasted empty space.

It  recommended using painter's tape and exact measurements to create mock outlines on your floor so you can envision how the rug might look in your space.

ii) Using pieces of furniture that are too “matchy-matchy” might make your home look like a showroom:-

Walk into a furniture showroom, and you're likely to find that almost everything is sold in sets — including living-room furniture. The easiest thing would be to purchase an entire set, but don't do it. A space that looks too ‘matchy-matchy' isn't a good thing. Furniture sets are visually boring, but ending different pieces demonstrates that you took time to curate your space, which, in turn, elevates the style in your home.

iii) You should use shelving space, but avoid packing it with large items

When it comes to shelving in your living room, there's a right way and a wrong way to go about decorating it. You should utilize shelving space as much as possible, but try and avoid overhang, which could cause the space to look overcrowded.

    iv) Not  hanging art:-

Don’t be afraid to put big and bold artwork in your sitting room. Generally the room with a big TV in the corner, the bigger and bolder the artwork is, the more likely to distract from the TV.

    v) Not mixing old and new pieces:-

It’s easy to be a little rigid when it comes to living room design, in that we unconsciously lean towards furniture and accessories from the era in which the house was built. However, mixing old and new pieces makes a room more individual and it’s a style that London based interior designers.

    vi) Not considering armchairs:-

Two sofas in a living room is often our first thought, but although we love the double sofa look – you’ll see it below – there is also a place for one sofa and a couple of armchairs. It allows for flexibility in that you can move them around easily to accommodate guests and they visually break up a scheme that perhaps needs a little creativity.

  vii) Selecting The Wrong Sofa

A great living room starts with a great sofa. Sometimes this is where a lot of problems reside. Maybe you’re not picking the correct fabric to harmonize with the rest of your furniture, or maybe it’s the color or style that it’s not working with your home decor. A good sofa is the key to comfort in a living room and it should be treated as a fundamental piece that needs to be chosen carefully.

Conclusion

In interior design, it’s very easy to make mistakes without being aware of it. Whether we’re keeping Best furniture pieces that have gone out of style or we are misplacing the curtains or family photos on the walls, these are mistakes that can destroy an entire room design.

Simply put, living rooms are gathering places — and, as such, regardless of whether your design style is rustic, traditional, modern, or somewhere in between, you want the space to reflect your personality, be comfortable, and, most importantly, be practical.

We admit that we love small living rooms in particular for the inherently warm and inviting feelings they evoke. There's something about cozy rooms that make people want to stay a while
