Lotus has released the first official images of its new flagship model, the Lotus Emira.

The three-seat sports car will go on sale in the UK in June 2022 following a debut at the Geneva Motor Show, priced from £69,995.

The Emira is set to replace the outgoing Evora model, and is expected to be available with a range of powertrains.

The 2023 lotus Emira will be revealed next week, but it's already set to become the brand's most powerful production car ever.

The sports car will make its debut on July 6, and Lotus has confirmed that when the Emira goes on sale later this year, it will have an output of 400 hp (298 kW).

That power comes from a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine, and it's enough for the Emira to become the most powerful Lotus ever sold. At least until the Evija hypercar arrives.

The Evija is rated at 2,000 metric horsepower (1,973 hp), which makes it more powerful than even a Bugatti Chiron. It isn't expected to arrive until 2022, however.

Lotus hasn't said what kind of performance numbers its new sports car will put up, but with 400 hp on tap and a curb weight of less than 2,500 lbs (1,134 kg), we expect it to be pretty quick. The automaker did say that the Emira is capable of hitting 60 mph (96 km/h) in under four seconds though.
