A mascot can be simply defined as a “miniature brand ambassador” whereas a logo is the brand identity. Where the two may sound familiar, they both have completely different functions and benefits.

While a logo can easily be designed by a graphic designer, designing a mascot is not everyone's cup of tea. One has to hire an artist to design a mascot. It also costs more than designing a logo. Let's dig further into finding out the differences between mascot and logo.

Mascots

A Mascot is a character that is considered to be a lucky charm. Companies and organizations often decide to have a mascot designed for their brands to bring good luck to their businesses. On the other hand, when someone decides to start a business, one of the first steps that they have to deal with is designing the logo.

A mascot can be any figure or even a cartoon that is popular in the audience, in keeping with a part of the company so as to make sense. It is supposed to bring a sense of familiarity among the customers associated with your brand.

However, a logo should be designed in a way to tell the people what your company is about. This logo will help you in getting recognized in the years to come.

Logos

Logos can be designed quite easily and it’s affordable too, but with the mascot, it’s a different story. You will have to hire someone who is actually qualified for it, and it will cost you much more.

A mascot is usually designed by a company when they have established their name successfully in the market, and are now willing to build a relationship with their customers. It is supposed to build the customers’ trust in the brand and organization.

A logo in contrast to this isn’t able to do this much. Since the logo is supposed to be designed at the beginning of the business, the people haven’t had any time to know the company or what is it about.

Logo is more of a professional touch to the brand while a mascot kind of makes it personal for the business owners. It’s their way to tell the audience that they care. They are willing to go out on a length and turn this seller-buyer relation into a friendship.

Imagine going to the supermarket and looking to buy a good snack, however, the variety of options end up confusing you. In the midst of it, you see a can of pringles and you know one can never go wrong with good ol' pringles. This is the kind of trust a mascot instills in a brands' customers.

These pointers are the facts that make a logo quite different from a mascot and explain the need for both of them. They are very important, but the timing for designing either one for your company should be kept in mind.
