You're probably looking at juicer models and trying to decide which one to buy for yourself.

OKAY, LET’S TALK.

You're probably a recent juice-lover at your local grocery store or juice bar, and now you think “this health kick can be expensive!”

You can juice for convenience, or to save up to $15+ per visit at a juice bar. We have the information you need. Let's get started!

COLD-PRESS VS. Non-COLD-PRESS JUICERS

There are many cold-press juicers, such as:

They are smaller and more affordable than other cold-press juicers. We'll be looking into this machine soon.

Because they don't heat the juice, cold-press juicers are also known as such. The juice temperature doesn't rise during processing and remains below room temperature. Because they don't get heated (or oxidized as in the case with centrifugal juicers, discussed below), the nutrients last longer.

Fresh cold-pressed juices can be kept refrigerated for up to three to six days, without any additional preservation.

JUICERS NON-COLD PRESS

The “non-cold press juicers”, on the other hand, can be reduced to one machine: a centrifugal juicer.

In case you're curious about jucier, there is no phrase or word that can be called a “hot-pressed”.

A centrifugal juicer machine increases the temperature of the juice by raising it to room temperature. Also, the centrifugal process oxygenates and aerates the juice being juiced. The juice is good for up to an hour. You must drink the juice immediately after it is created to get any nutrients (and avoid the juice becoming unpleasant).

Let's dive deeper into the different categories of juicers. . .

Which Juice Machine Is Right for Me?

THE CENTRIFUGAL CENTRIFUGAL Juice MACHINE

You might have just started juicing. Perhaps you felt inspired by watching “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead”, a movie about juicing, or a ‘juicer informationmercial”. These TV commercials suggest that a centrifugal system is the best way to go.

They are inexpensive (under $100) and easy to use.

Centrifugal juicers are often equipped with large intake openings to allow you to chop cucumbers, apples, and other vegetables quickly.

You can also save time with a hestia cold press juicer, as it only takes a few seconds to grind through produce. They are very effective at extracting vegetable and fruit juices (that is, they're “effective”, not efficient).

Okay, so what are the CENTRIFUGAL Juicer's CONS?

Although centrifugal juicers can be very powerful, and early models juiced with a few careless fingers, they produce much less juice than their cold-press brethren.

They're hot because of the head of the motor, speed of rotation of cutting blades and “squeeze” of juice through fine-mesh filters. Juice bars that use centrifugal juicers cool the juice by pouring it over ice.

The blades' rapid cutting speeds oxidize the juice and pulverize the plant's cell walls, which protect nutrients. This causes the destruction of plant enzymes.

Additionally, rapidly spun juice can foam and froth easily – and that foam separates from the hardening agent, making it gross! You've probably already noticed this.

MASTICATING Juice Machine (AKA “CHEWING JUICE MACHINE”)

Masticating juicers are part of the “cold press” family. These require more preparation (you will likely need to cut the produce into the right size for the machine to ‘chew'), and the juicing process takes place at a slower speed.

However, if your juice is juicing for nutrients, like I do, you will name it “my precious”. And because the juice does not oxidize or warm up, it lasts much longer than a centrifugal juicer.

It has a very high yield output, which means that the pulp contains less juice. Masticated pulp can be composted as it is already dry. A masticating juicer is a great way to get a centrifugal juicer off the field, especially when it comes leafy greens such as spinach, chard, or kale. If it's green or leafy, a centrifugal machine will yield almost no juice. This is why, if you have a centrifugal machine already, you might be frustrated.

The attachments on a nicer masticating juicer usually allow you to make everything, from frozen sorbets and nut milks.

Finally, masticating juicers can be cleaned much more easily than centrifugal juicers. This is what I can vouch for!

A masticating juicer is a must-have if you intend to juice greens, herbs or wheatgrass, and not just apple juice occasionally.

CONS OF MASTICATING JUICE MACHINE MACHINE

One word: buckaroos.

Most people will choose a centrifugal juicer like the Braville, which is affordable at under $100.

A good masticating juicer will cost between $250 and $400, depending on the motor size, mouth size, speed, accessories, and other factors (which I believe are mostly gimmicks).

PLATEN JUICE MACHINES & PRESS JUICERS

If you are curious, many large juice bars and grocery shops use platen juice machines to make large amounts of juice. Plates (also called “platens”) are used to crush vegetables and fruits between them, pressing the plates together under very high hydraulic pressures. These machines are heavy and large, require professional training, and can be dangerous ($9,000 to $20,000).

The smaller platen juice machines are also known as press juicers or “home presses”. Although they are less expensive (often below $3000), they can prove dangerous to use, especially with children and pets.

These machines have two disadvantages: (1) They weigh over a ton for the platen maker and 100 pounds for the ‘home press juicer'. (2) The fruits and vegetables are held between the plates by a porous plastic bag. You must clean or replace the bag after each use. (3) Because you can't simply take them apart and wash them in the sink, cleaning the plates requires a hose, spray bottle, and a sanitizing agent.

IN CONCLUSION . .

  • A masticating juicer is the best choice if you want to juice greens.

  • The masticating juicer is the best choice if you want to get the most nutritious juice.

  • A centrifugal juicer can be ideal get started if you don't have the time or desire to commit to juicing.

  • A masticating juicer might be the best gift for someone who juicing is part of their daily routine.

Whatever your choice, congratulations for taking another step towards a healthier and more delicious world.
