Matthew McConaughey has recently admitted that he is all ready to be a part of the sequel of his 2003 film “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” as he feels the movie had a perfect storyline for a sequel.
The Academy Award winner for “Dallas Buyers Club” has revealed that he is quite a fan of the film (which he co-starred with Kate Hudson) and is very much open to portray the role of the ad executive Benjamin Barry. In the movie, Barry falls in love with a magazine columnist (played by Kate Hudson).
McConaughey’s comments came days after his revelation in the book that in the early 2010s, he had decided that he will never do romantic comedies anymore.
The actor professed his wish for the sequel on E’s Daily Pop. He started by praising the movie; he said that the 2003 film was “a really good one” and as far as romantic comedies go, it is a great film.
He added in his comment that people can easily make a sequel out of that one. One of the reasons why a sequel would work for “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” is the fact that people still watch the film and the affection fans have for Benjamin Barry, and his love for the columnist still hasn’t faded away regardless of the fact that 17 years have passed since the release of the film.
It looks like Kate Hudson agrees with him, but she reckons that Andie Anderson and Benjamin Barry would be “miserable” now. She had spoken to Elle about the possible sequel way back in August and had said that she wonders what has become of their characters and feels that it is a good time to make a film about it as the couple would have had kids by now who also have grown up and the chemistry that existed between them in the film would have been long gone.
Though Mathew McConaughey wishes to return to the comedy genre, the best time of his career had come between 2013 to 2015(commonly known as McConaissance), during which he appeared in almost every masterpiece that arrived on theaters and TV screens.
We all know about his performance as the space pilot Cooper in Christopher Nolan’s science fiction epic “Interstellar”(2014). He had also played a part in Martin Scorcese’s 2014 film “Wolf of Wall Street” (he was surprised by his Oscar win because he was certain Leonardo DiCaprio would win it).
However, his performance of a lifetime had come on the small screen. His portrayal of the smart, strange, and philosophical detective named Rustin Cohle (True Detective Season 1) had won him an Emmy nomination in the “Outstanding Lead Actor in the Drama Series” category.
It’s a real shame that he didn’t win it because Rustin Cohle is still one of the most riveting characters ever portrayed on television and is arguably the best character McConaughey will ever play in his life.
