How do I Reach Meghalaya

Guwahati, just like other northeast states is also the entry point to Meghalaya. Shillong, the capital and most important city of Meghalaya is Shillong. Most likely, your Meghalaya group tour journey will start in Shillong.

There is a domestic airport in Shillong that can be connected to New Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati. The best way to get into Meghalaya is to fly to Guwahati, then to Shillong.

Guwahati is the nearest railway station. Shared jeeps or cabs are available at Paltan Bazar, Guwahati Railway Station. Also, you can get shared jeeps or cabs from Khanapara (Guwahati). Buses can also be rented from the ASTC Bus Stand located outside the railway station. Regular buses can also be accessed from ISBT Beltola, Guwahati.

 

From Guwahati to Shillong, helicopter services are also available. We recommend that you take the road. Shillong, located 100 kilometres from Guwahati, is a scenic destination. It follows an uphill route through lush greenery.

Police Bazar is home to the Meghalaya backpacking trip Tourism Office. There you can book sightseeing tours as well as city tours. You can also book tours to Cherrapunji and Mawlynong, Dawki, and other locations. The Tourism Office also offers car hire for trips around the country.
